Jak 2, 1-26

1 My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons. 2 "For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment; " 3 "And all of you have respect to him that wears the cheerful clothing, and say unto him, Sit you here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand you there, or sit here under my footstool: " 4 Are all of you not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts? 5 Hearken, my beloved brethren, Has not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he has promised to them that love him? 6 But all of you have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats? 7 Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which all of you are called? 8 If all of you fulfill the royal law according to the scripture, You shall love your neighbour as yourself, all of you do well: 9 But if all of you have respect to persons, all of you commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors. 10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. 11 For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if you commit no adultery, yet if you kill, you are become a transgressor of the law. 12 So speak all of you, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty. 13 "For he shall have judgment without mercy, that has showed no mercy; and mercy rejoices against judgment. " 14 What does it profit, my brethren, though a man say he has faith, and have not works? can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, 16 "And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be all of you warmed and filled; notwithstanding all of you give them not those things which are necessary to the body; what does it profit? " 17 Even so faith, if it has not works, is dead, being alone. 18 Yea, a man may say, You have faith, and I have works: show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. 19 "You believe that there is one God; you do well: the devils also believe, and tremble. " 20 But will you know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? 22 See you how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? 23 And the scripture was fulfilled which says, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. 24 All of you see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. 25 Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way? 26 For as the body without the spirit (o. pneuma) is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

Jak 2, 1-26

Verš 1
My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons.
Lv 19:15 - All of you shall do no unrighteousness in judgment: you shall not respect the person of the poor, nor honor the person of the mighty: but in righteousness shall you judge your neighbour.
Dt 16:19 - "You shall not shift judgment; you shall not respect persons, neither take a gift: for a gift does blind the eyes of the wise, and pervert the words of the righteous. "
Prís 24:23 - These things also belong to the wise. It is not good to have respect of persons in judgment.
Mt 22:16 - And they sent out unto him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that you are true, and teach the way of God in truth, neither care you for any man: for you regard not the person of men.

Verš 5
Hearken, my beloved brethren, Has not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he has promised to them that love him?
Jn 7:48 - Have any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed on him?
1Kor 1:26 - For all of you see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:
Ex 20:6 - And showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
1Sam 2:30 - "Wherefore the LORD God of Israel says, I said indeed that your house, and the house of your father, should walk before me for ever: but now the LORD says, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed. "
Prís 8:17 - "I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me. "
Mt 5:3 - Blessed are the poor in spirit: (o. pneuma) for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Verš 8
If all of you fulfill the royal law according to the scripture, You shall love your neighbour as yourself, all of you do well:
Lv 19:18 - You shall not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people, but you shall love your neighbour as yourself: I am the LORD.
Mt 22:39 - And the second is like unto it, You shall love your neighbour as yourself.
Mk 12:31 - And the second is like, namely this, You shall love your neighbour as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these.
Rim 13:9 - "For this, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not kill, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness, You shall not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, (o. logos) namely, You shall love your neighbour as yourself. "
Gal 5:14 - "For all the law is fulfilled in one word, (o. logos) even in this; You shall love your neighbour as yourself. "
Ef 5:2 - And walk in love, (o. agape) as Christ also has loved us, and has given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savour.
1Sol 4:9 - But as concerning brotherly love all of you need not that I write unto you: for all of you yourselves are taught of God to love one another.

Verš 10
For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.
Dt 27:26 - Cursed be he that confirms not all the words of this law to do them. And all the people shall say, Amen.
Mt 5:19 - Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
Gal 3:10 - For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continues not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.

Verš 11
For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if you commit no adultery, yet if you kill, you are become a transgressor of the law.
Ex 20:14 - You shall not commit adultery.
Mt 5:27 - All of you have heard that it was said by them of old time, You shall not commit adultery:

Verš 13
"For he shall have judgment without mercy, that has showed no mercy; and mercy rejoices against judgment. "
Mt 6:15 - But if all of you forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Mt 18:35 - So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if all of you from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.
Mk 11:25 - And when all of you stand praying, forgive, if all of you have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
Lk 16:25 - But Abraham said, Son, remember that you in your lifetime received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and you are tormented.

Verš 14
What does it profit, my brethren, though a man say he has faith, and have not works? can faith save him?
Mt 7:26 - And every one that hears these sayings (o. logos) of mine, and does them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
Jak 1:23 - For if any be a hearer of the word, (o. logos) and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:

Verš 15
If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,
Lk 3:11 - "He answers and says unto them, He that has two coats, let him impart to him that has none; and he that has food, let him do likewise. "
1Jn 3:17 - But whoso has this world's good, and sees his brother have need, and shuts up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwells the love (o. agape) of God in him?

Verš 19
"You believe that there is one God; you do well: the devils also believe, and tremble. "
Mk 1:24 - "Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with you, you Jesus of Nazareth? are you come to destroy us? I know you who you are, the Holy One of God. "

Verš 21
Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?
Gn 22:10 - And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.

Verš 23
And the scripture was fulfilled which says, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.
Gn 15:6 - "And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness. "
Rim 4:3 - For what says the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.
Gal 3:6 - Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.

Verš 25
Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way?
Joz 2:1 - And Joshua the son of Nun sent out of Shittim two men to spy secretly, saying, Go view the land, even Jericho. And they went, and came into an harlot's house, named Rahab, and lodged there.
Joz 6:23 - "And the young men that were spies went in, and brought out Rahab, and her father, and her mother, and her brethren, and all that she had; and they brought out all her kindred, and left them without the camp of Israel. "
Heb 11:31 - By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace.

Jak 2,5 - Porov. 1 Kor 1, 26–38.

2 Sol 3, 10–12).

Jak 2,21 - Gn 22, 9; porov. Hebr 11, 17.

Jak 2,23 - Gn 15, 6; porov. Rim 4, 3; Gal 3, 6.

Jak 2,25 - Porov. Joz 2, 1–26; Hebr 11, 31.
