1 (CPDV) This is the book of the lineage of Adam. In the day that God created man, he made him to the likeness of God.
1 (ROH) Toto je kniha rodov Adamových. V deň, v ktorý stvoril Bôh Adama, učinil ho na podobu Boha.
2 (CPDV) He created them, male and female; and he blessed them. And he called their name Adam, in the day when they were created.
2 (ROH) Muža a ženu ich stvoril a požehnal ich a nazval ich meno Adam , v deň, v ktorý boli stvorení.
3 (CPDV) Then Adam lived for one hundred and thirty years. And then he conceived a son in his own image and likeness, and he called his name Seth.
3 (ROH) Adam žil sto tridsať rokov a splodil syna na svoju podobu a podľa svojho obrazu a nazval jeho meno Set.
4 (CPDV) And after he conceived Seth, the days of Adam that passed were eight hundred years. And he conceived sons and daughters.
4 (ROH) A bolo dní Adamových po splodení Seta osemsto rokov, a splodil synov a dcéry.
5 (CPDV) And all the time that passed while Adam lived was nine hundred and thirty years, and then he died.
5 (ROH) A bolo všetkých dní Adamových, ktoré žil, deväťsto tridsať rokov, a zomrel.
6 (CPDV) Seth likewise lived for one hundred and five years, and then he conceived Enos.
6 (ROH) A Set žil sto päť rokov a splodil Enoša.
7 (CPDV) And after he conceived Enos, Seth lived for eight hundred and seven years, and he conceived sons and daughters.
7 (ROH) A Set žil po splodení Enoša osemsto sedem rokov a splodil synov a dcéry.
8 (CPDV) And all the days of Seth that passed were nine hundred and twelve years, and then he died.
8 (ROH) A bolo všetkých dní Setových deväťsto dvanásť rokov, a zomrel.
9 (CPDV) In truth, Enos lived ninety years, and then he conceived Cainan.
9 (ROH) A Enoš žil deväťdesiat rokov a splodil Kénana.
10 (CPDV) After his birth, he lived eight hundred and fifteen years, and he conceived sons and daughters.
10 (ROH) A Enoš žil po splodení Kénana osemsto pätnásť a splodil synov a dcéry.
11 (CPDV) And all the days of Enos that passed were nine hundred and five years, and then he died.
11 (ROH) A bolo všetkých dní Enošových deväťsto päť rokov, a zomrel.
12 (CPDV) Likewise, Cainan lived seventy years, and then he conceived Mahalalel.
12 (ROH) A Kénan žil sedemdesiat rokov a splodil Mahalaléla.
13 (CPDV) And after he conceived Mahalalel, Cainan lived for eight hundred and forty years, and he conceived sons and daughters.
13 (ROH) A Kénan žil po splodení Mahalaléla osemsto štyridsať rokov a splodil synov a dcéry.
14 (CPDV) And all the days of Cainan that passed were nine hundred and ten years, and then he died.
14 (ROH) A bolo všetkých dní Kénanových deväťsto desať rokov, a zomrel.
15 (CPDV) And Mahalalel lived sixty-five years, and then he conceived Jared.
15 (ROH) A Mahalalél žil šesťdesiatpäť rokov a splodil Jareda.
16 (CPDV) And after he conceived Jared, Mahalalel lived for eight hundred and thirty years, and he conceived sons and daughters.
16 (ROH) A Mahalalél žil po splodení Jareda osemsto tridsať rokov, a splodil synov a dcéry.
17 (CPDV) And all the days of Mahalalel that passed were eight hundred and ninety-five years, and then he died.
17 (ROH) A bolo všetkých dní Mahalalélových osemsto deväťdesiatpäť rokov, a zomrel.
18 (CPDV) And Jared lived for one hundred and sixty-two years, and then he conceived Enoch.
18 (ROH) A Jared žil sto šesťdesiatdva rokov a splodil Enocha.
19 (CPDV) And after he conceived Enoch, Jared lived for eight hundred years, and he conceived sons and daughters.
19 (ROH) A Jared žil po splodení Enocha osemsto rokov a splodil synov a dcéry.
20 (CPDV) And all the days of Jared that passed were nine hundred and sixty-two years, and then he died.
20 (ROH) A bolo všetkých dní Jaredových deväťsto šesťdesiatdva rokov, a zomrel.
21 (CPDV) Now Enoch lived for sixty-five years, and then he conceived Methuselah.
21 (ROH) A Enoch žil šesťdesiatpäť rokov a splodil Matuzalema.
22 (CPDV) And Enoch walked with God. And after he conceived Methuselah, he lived for three hundred years, and he conceived sons and daughters.
22 (ROH) A Enoch chodil s Bohom po splodení Matuzalema tristo rokov a splodil synov a dcéry.
23 (CPDV) And all the days of Enoch that passed were three hundred and sixty-five years.
23 (ROH) A bolo všetkých dní Enochových tristo šesťdesiatpäť rokov.
24 (CPDV) And he walked with God, and then he was seen no more, because God took him.
24 (ROH) A Enoch chodil s Bohom, a nebolo ho, lebo ho vzal Bôh.
25 (CPDV) Likewise, Methuselah lived for one hundred and eighty-seven years, and then he conceived Lamech.
25 (ROH) A Matuzalem žil sto osemdesiatsedem rokov a splodil Lámecha.
26 (CPDV) And after he conceived Lamech, Methuselah lived for seven hundred and eighty-two years, and he conceived sons and daughters.
26 (ROH) A Matuzalem žil po splodení Lámecha sedemsto osemdesiatdva rokov a splodil synov a dcéry.
27 (CPDV) And all the days of Methuselah that passed were nine hundred and sixty-nine years, and then he died.
27 (ROH) A bolo všetkých dní Matuzalemových deväťsto šesťdesiatdeväť rokov, a zomrel.
28 (CPDV) Then Lamech lived for one hundred and eighty-two years, and he conceived a son.
28 (ROH) A Lámech žil sto osemdesiatdva rokov a splodil syna.
29 (CPDV) And he called his name Noah, saying, “This one will console us from the works and hardships of our hands, in the land that the Lord has cursed.”
29 (ROH) A nazval jeho meno Noach povediac: Tento nás poteší a oddýchneme si od svojho diela a od bolestí práce svojich rúk, od zeme, ktorej zlorečil Hospodin.
30 (CPDV) And after he conceived Noah, Lamech lived for five hundred and ninety-five years, and he conceived sons and daughters.
30 (ROH) A Lámech žil po splodení Noacha päťsto deväťdesiatpäť rokov a splodil synov a dcéry.
31 (CPDV) And all the days of Lamech that passed were seven hundred and seventy-seven years, and then he died. In truth, when Noah was five hundred years old, he conceived Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
31 (ROH) A bolo všetkých dní Lámechových sedemsto sedemdesiatsedem rokov, a zomrel.

Verš 1
This is the book of the lineage of Adam. In the day that God created man, he made him to the likeness of God.
Gn 1:26 - And he said: “Let us make Man to our image and likeness. And let him rule over the fish of the sea, and the flying creatures of the air, and the wild beasts, and the entire earth, and every animal that moves on the earth.”
Gn 9:6 - Whoever will shed human blood, his blood will be poured out. For man was indeed made to the image of God.
1Kor 11:7 - Certainly, a man ought not to cover his head, for he is the image and glory of God. But woman is the glory of man.

He created them, male and female; and he blessed them. And he called their name Adam, in the day when they were created.

Seth likewise lived for one hundred and five years, and then he conceived Enos.
Gn 4:26 - But to Seth also was born a son, whom he called Enos. This one began to invoke the name of the Lord.

Heb 11:5 - By faith, Enoch was transferred, so that he would not see death, and he was not found because God had transferred him. For before he was transferred, he had testimony that he pleased God.
Verš 24
And he walked with God, and then he was seen no more, because God took him.
2Kr 2:11 - And as they continued on, they were conversing while walking. And behold, a fiery chariot with fiery horses divided the two. And Elijah ascended by a whirlwind into heaven.

Gn 5,1 - "Zoznam", hebr. séfer, značí síce v prvom rade ,knihu', ale aj akýkoľvek ,menší spis, záznam', teda aj ,zoznam'.
Gn 5,2-32 - V rodostrome Setitovcov od Adama až po Lamecha, otca Noemovho, je desať generácií. Udané sú roky tých mužov, čo predstavovali jednotlivé generácie. Na prvý pohľad by sa teda zdalo, že ľahko možno určiť čas od stvorenia sveta do potopy sveta, od Adama po Noema. Stačilo by sčítať celkové roky desiatich predstaviteľov spomenutých generácii a došli by sme k presnému poznaniu času od stvorenia prvého človeka až po potopu sveta. Treba si však uvedomiť, že svätopiscovi nešlo tak o určenie času, o chronológiu, ako skôr o to, aby poukázal na pôvod jednotlivých rodín od Adama po Noema, potom od Noema po Abraháma a napokon od Abraháma po Jakuba a izraelský národ; v tomto národe sa vyplní protoevanjelium, ktoré sa medzičasom znova a znova prísľubom Božím potvrdzuje. Na dokázanie tohto faktu stačí uviesť, že v Svätom písme sú genealógie na niektorých miestach neúplné, nezhodujú sa ani v menách (Mt 1,8 n.; 1 Krn 3,10 n. atď.). Preto právom možno predpokladať, že v rodostrome sú vynechané niektoré generácie, ako keby v reťazi vypadli niektoré ohnivká. – O mimoriadne dlhom veku patriarchov možno povedať iba toľko, že ho nachádzame len v najstaršej vrstve Pentateuchu, kde sa s obľubou narába so symbolickými číslami, ktoré my už dnes nerozriešime. Babylonské záznamy uvádzajú pri starých kráľoch ešte oveľa vyšší vek.
Gn 5,21-24 - Henoch sa líši od ostatných patriarchov tým, že jeho život je znateľne kratší, počet jeho rokov sa dokonale zhoduje s počtom dní slnečného roku, Písmo o ňom hovorí, že "chodil s Bohom", ako neskôr o Noemovi a "Boh ho vzal", ako Eliáša. Preto je veľkou postavou židovskej tradície, ktorá ho stavia za príklad svojej nábožnosti.
