1 (KJV) O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;
1 (ROH) Žalm Dávidov, keď bol na Judskej púšti.
2 (KJV) To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.
2 (ROH) Bože, ty si môj silný Bôh. Hľadám ťa hneď za svitania. Moja duša žízni túžbou po tebe; moje telo práhne po tebe vo vyschlej zemi a zomdlenej bez vody.
3 (KJV) Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.
3 (ROH) Tak budem hľadieť na teba v svätyni, aby som videl tvoju silu a tvoju slávu.
4 (KJV) Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.
4 (ROH) Lebo tvoja milosť je lepšia ako život. Moje rty ťa budú velesláviť.
5 (KJV) My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips:
5 (ROH) Tak ti budem dobrorečiť po celý svoj život; v tvojom mene budem pozdvihovať svoje ruky.
6 (KJV) When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.
6 (ROH) Jako tukom a sadlom bude sa tam sýtiť moja duša, a moje ústa ťa budú chváliť plesajúcimi rty.
7 (KJV) Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.
7 (ROH) Keď sa rozpomínam na teba na svojej loži, za nočných stráží, rozmýšľam o tebe.
8 (KJV) My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me.
8 (ROH) Lebo si mi bol na pomoci, a preto budem plesať v tôni tvojich krýdel.
9 (KJV) But those that seek my soul, to destroy it, shall go into the lower parts of the earth.
9 (ROH) Moja duša ľne k tebe idúc za tebou. Tvoja pravica ma zdržuje.
10 (KJV) They shall fall by the sword: they shall be a portion for foxes.
10 (ROH) Ale oni hľadajú moju dušu na záhubu a preto sostúpia do spodku zeme.
11 (KJV) But the king shall rejoice in God; every one that sweareth by him shall glory: but the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped.
11 (ROH) Vydajú ho ostriu meča; budú za podiel líškam.
12 ----
12 (ROH) Ale kráľ sa bude radovať v Bohu. Chváliť sa ním bude každý, kto prisahá na neho, lebo budú zapchané ústa tým, ktorí hovoria lož.

Verš 1
O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;
1Sam 22:5 - And the prophet Gad said unto David, Abide not in the hold; depart, and get thee into the land of Judah. Then David departed, and came into the forest of Hareth.
1Sam 23:14 - And David abode in the wilderness in strong holds, and remained in a mountain in the wilderness of Ziph. And Saul sought him every day, but God delivered him not into his hand.
Z 63 - Žalm nás upamätúva na Dávidovo položenie, keď utekal pred svojím synom Absolónom cez Júdsku púšť k Jordánu a potom do Zajordánska. Júdska púšť sa tiahne od Jeruzalema k Mŕtvemu moru. Na tejto púšti našiel Dávid záchranu už za časov Šaulovho prenasledovania a teraz uteká tadeto pred vlastným nevďačným synom (2 Sam 15,23-30).
Z 63,12 - "Všetci, ktorí prisahajú na neho", značí tých, čo uznávajú Pána za Boha, za najväčšiu autoritu (Dt 6,13).
