Ž 115, 1-18

1 (KJV) Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth's sake.
1 (ROH) Nie nám, Hospodine, nie nám, ale svojmu menu daj česť pre svoju milosť, pre svoju pravdu.

2 (KJV) Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is now their God?
2 (ROH) Prečo majú povedať pohania: Kdeže je ich Bôh?

3 (KJV) But our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased.
3 (ROH) Ale náš Bôh je na nebesiach a činí všetko, čo chce.

4 (KJV) Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men's hands.
4 (ROH) Ich modly sú striebro a zlato; sú dielom rúk človeka;

5 (KJV) They have mouths, but they speak not: eyes have they, but they see not:
5 (ROH) majú ústa a nehovoria; majú oči a nevidia;

6 (KJV) They have ears, but they hear not: noses have they, but they smell not:
6 (ROH) majú uši a nečujú; majú nos a nečuchajú;

7 (KJV) They have hands, but they handle not: feet have they, but they walk not: neither speak they through their throat.
7 (ROH) majú svoje ruky, ale nehmatajú, svoje nohy, ale nechodia ani nezavolajú svojím hrdlom.

8 (KJV) They that make them are like unto them; so is every one that trusteth in them.
8 (ROH) Nech sú jako oni, tí, ktorí ich robia, každý, kto sa nadeje na ne.

9 (KJV) O Israel, trust thou in the LORD: he is their help and their shield.
9 (ROH) Izraelu, ty sa nadej na Hospodina! On je ich pomocou a ich štítom.

10 (KJV) O house of Aaron, trust in the LORD: he is their help and their shield.
10 (ROH) Dom Áronov, nadejte sa na Hospodina. On je ich pomocou a ich štítom.

11 (KJV) Ye that fear the LORD, trust in the LORD: he is their help and their shield.
11 (ROH) Vy, ktorí sa bojíte Hospodina, nadejte sa na Hospodina! On je ich pomocou a ich štítom.

12 (KJV) The LORD hath been mindful of us: he will bless us; he will bless the house of Israel; he will bless the house of Aaron.
12 (ROH) Hospodin bude pamätať na nás, požehná; požehná dom Izraelov; požehná dom Áronov.

13 (KJV) He will bless them that fear the LORD, both small and great.
13 (ROH) Požehná tých, ktorí sa boja Hospodina, malých s veľkými.

14 (KJV) The LORD shall increase you more and more, you and your children.
14 (ROH) Nech pridá Hospodin na vás, na vás i na vašich synov.

15 (KJV) Ye are blessed of the LORD which made heaven and earth.
15 (ROH) Požehnaní vy Hospodinovi, ktorý učinil nebesia i zem.

16 (KJV) The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD's: but the earth hath he given to the children of men.
16 (ROH) Nebesia sú nebesia Hospodinove, a zem dal synom človeka.

17 (KJV) The dead praise not the LORD, neither any that go down into silence.
17 (ROH) Nie mŕtvi budú chváliť Hospodina a niktorý z tých, ktorí sostupujú na miesto mlčania;

18 (KJV) But we will bless the LORD from this time forth and for evermore. Praise the LORD.
18 (ROH) ale my budeme dobrorečiť Hospodinovi odteraz až na veky. Hallelujah!

Verš 5

They have mouths, but they speak not: eyes have they, but they see not:

Dt 4:28 - And there ye shall serve gods, the work of men's hands, wood and stone, which neither see, nor hear, nor eat, nor smell.

Jer 10:3 - For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.

Jer 10:9 - Silver spread into plates is brought from Tarshish, and gold from Uphaz, the work of the workman, and of the hands of the founder: blue and purple is their clothing: they are all the work of cunning men.

Z 115,17-18 - Izraeliti sa domnievali, že po smrti sa ani Pán nestará o mŕtvych, ani mŕtvi nemôžu nijako osláviť Boha. "V šeóle", v podsvetí sa ani nežilo, ani nehynulo, bol to život veľmi malátny, tam sa nedal vykonať nijaký záslužný skutok (Ž 6,6; 30,10; 88,11).
