Ž 116, 1-19

1 (UKJV) I love the LORD, because he has heard my voice and my supplications.
1 (ROH) Milujem Hospodina, lebo Hospodin počul môj hlas, moje pokorné prosby.

2 (UKJV) Because he has inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live.
2 (ROH) Lebo mi naklonil svoje ucho, a preto ho budem vzývať vo svojich dňoch.

3 (UKJV) The sorrows of death compassed me, and the pains of hell got hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow.
3 (ROH) Boly ma obkľúčily bolesti smrti, a našly ma úzkosti hrobu; bol som našiel súženie a trápenie duše.

4 (UKJV) "Then called I upon the name of the LORD; O LORD, I plead to you, deliver my soul. "
4 (ROH) Ale som vzýval meno Hospodinovo a vravel som: Prosím, ó, Hospodine, vysloboď moju dušu!

5 (UKJV) "Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful. "
5 (ROH) Hospodin je milostivý a spravedlivý, a náš Bôh sa zľutováva.

6 (UKJV) The LORD perserves the simple: I was brought low, and he helped me.
6 (ROH) Hospodin ostríha prostých. Bol som zbiedený, a pomohol mi.

7 (UKJV) "Return unto your rest, O my soul; for the LORD has dealt bountifully with you. "
7 (ROH) Navráť sa, duša moja, na svoj odpočinok, lebo Hospodin ti učinil dobrodenie.

8 (UKJV) For you have delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling.
8 (ROH) Lebo si vytrhol moju dušu zo smrti, moje oko si zachránil od slzy, moju nohu od klesnutia.

9 (UKJV) I will walk before the LORD in the land of the living.
9 (ROH) Budem chodiť pred Hospodinom v zemi živých.

10 (UKJV) I believed, therefore have I spoken: I was greatly afflicted:
10 (ROH) Uveril som, preto som hovoril. No, ja som bol veľmi strápený.

11 (UKJV) I said in my haste, All men are liars.
11 (ROH) Ja som povedal vo svojom spechu: Každý človek je lhár.

12 (UKJV) What shall I render unto the LORD for all his benefits toward me?
12 (ROH) Čím sa odplatím Hospodinovi za všetky jeho dobrodenia, ktoré mi učinil?!

13 (UKJV) I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the LORD.
13 (ROH) Vezmem kalich mnohonásobného spasenia a budem vzývať meno Hospodinovo.

14 (UKJV) I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all his people.
14 (ROH) Splním Hospodinovi svoje sľuby, splním pred všetkým jeho ľudom.

15 (UKJV) Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.
15 (ROH) Drahá je v očiach Hospodinových smrť jeho svätých.

16 (UKJV) "O LORD, truly I am your servant; I am your servant, and the son of your handmaid: you have loosed my bonds. "
16 (ROH) Prosím, ó, Hospodine, lebo ja som tvoj služobník, som tvoj služobník, syn tvojej dievky; rozviazal si moje putá.

17 (UKJV) I will offer to you the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the LORD.
17 (ROH) Tebe budem obetovať bitnú obeť chvály a budem vzývať meno Hospodinovo.

18 (UKJV) I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all his people.
18 (ROH) Splním Hospodinovi svoje sľuby, splním pred všetkým jeho ľudom,

19 (UKJV) In the courts of the LORD's house, in the midst of you, O Jerusalem. Praise all of you the LORD.
19 (ROH) vo dvoroch domu Hospodinovho, prostred teba, Jeruzaleme. Hallelujah!

Verš 11

I said in my haste, All men are liars.

Rim 3:4 - "God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That you might be justified in your sayings, (o. logos) and might overcome when you are judged. "

Verš 10

I believed, therefore have I spoken: I was greatly afflicted:

2Kor 4:13 - "We having the same spirit (o. pneuma) of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak; "

Verš 3

The sorrows of death compassed me, and the pains of hell got hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow.

2Sam 22:5 - "When the waves of death compassed me, the floods of ungodly men made me afraid; "

Verš 7

"Return unto your rest, O my soul; for the LORD has dealt bountifully with you. "

Ž 13:6 - I will sing unto the LORD, because he has dealt bountifully with me.

Z 116,3 - Porov. Ž 18,5-6.

Z 116,9 - "V krajine žijúcich" na rozdiel od tých, čo sú už v šeóle, v podsvetí, kde už nemožno slúžiť Bohu (Ž 27,13).

Z 116,10 - Lebo vedel, že na ľudí sa nedá veľmi spoľahnúť.

Z 116,13 - "Vezmem kalich spásy", kalich, z ktorého sa pri ďakovných obetách vylievalo víno k oltáru alebo okolo oltára. Izraeliti rozoznávali dva druhy obetí: krvavé a nekrvavé. Tak pri krvavých ako aj pri nekrvavých používali víno, ktoré sa buď celkom vylialo (pri krvavých obetách), alebo len jeho čiastka, zvyšok sa vypil pri hostine, ktorá vždy nasledovala po ďakovnej obete (porov. Ex 25,29; 29,40; 37,16).

Z 116,16 - Aj žalmista je jeden z Pánových sluhov, patrí mu ako majetok, lebo je "synom služobnice" Pánovej. Otroka, ktorý sa narodil v dome pána, nesmeli predať a patril navždy k domu svojho pána.
