Listen, Jesus the high priest, you and your friends, who dwell before you, who have been portending to men. For behold, I will lead my servant to the East.
Iz 4:2 - In that day, the seedling of the Lord will have magnificence and glory, and the fruit of the earth will be greatly-esteemed and a source of joy to those who will have been saved out of Israel.
Iz 11:1 - And a rod will go forth from the root of Jesse, and a flower will ascend from his root.
Jer 23:5 - Behold, the days are approaching, says the Lord, when I will raise up to David a righteous branch. And a king will reign, and he will be wise. And he will exercise judgment and justice upon the earth.
Jer 33:15 - In those days and at that time, I will cause the seedling of justice to spring up from David, and he will accomplish judgment and justice upon the earth.
Za 6:12 - And you will speak to him, saying: Thus says the Lord of hosts, saying: Behold, a man; the Rising is his name. And under him, he will rise up, and he will build a temple to the Lord.

And the Lord said to Satan, “May the Lord rebuke you, Satan! And may the Lord, who chose Jerusalem, rebuke you! Are you not a firebrand plucked from the fire?”

He answered and spoke to those who stood before him, saying, “Take away the filthy garments from him.” And he said to him, “Behold, I have taken away from you your iniquity, and I have clothed you with a change of clothing.”
Mi 7:18 - What God is like you, who takes away iniquity and passes over the sin of the remnant of your inheritance? No longer will he send forth his fury, because he is willing to be merciful.
Zach 3,1-5 - Veľkňaz Jozue zosobňuje celý kňazský stav, ba celý národ, ktorý aj vinou kňazstva upadol do nemilosti a ktorý by diabol, satan, chcel zničiť. Slová: "Nech ťa zavráti Pán" dozaista nehovorí sám Boh, ale v jeho zastúpení anjel. Boh nechce zničiť národ, ktorý sa i tak len Božou milosťou zachránil od zániku, je ako hlaveň, vytrhnutá z ohňa. Omilostením veľkňaza celý národ dostáva milosť, čo sa symbolicky naznačuje odňatím nečistých a oblečením skvostných šiat.
Zach 3,7 - Veľkňazovi sa sľubuje ochrana anjelov. Iní prekladajú koniec verša: "a dám ti prístup medzi týchto, čo tu stoja", a rozumejú to buď tak, že sa veľkňaz po smrti dostane medzi anjelov, alebo tak, že bude ako anjeli, prostredníkom medzi Bohom a ľuďmi; porov. Mal 2,7.
Zach 3,8 - Výhonok je nesporne Mesiáš, ktorý sa aj v dávnejších proroctvách volá Pánovým služobníkom; pozri Iz 42,1; 49,3.5; 50,10; 52,13; 53,11; Ez 34,23 n. - Aj meno Výhonok dávajú Mesiášovi už staršie proroctvá: Iz 4,2; Jer 23,5; 33,15; porov. Zach 6,12; tiež Iz 11,1.10; 53,2.
Zach 3,9 - Výklad tohto verša je veľmi ťažký. Najpravdepodobnejšie zvýrazňuje tento kameň Božie kráľovstvo. Boh dáva toto kráľovstvo spravovať veľkňazovi Jozuemu. No svoj skutočný lesk dosiahne až vtedy, keď príde Mesiáš, až vtedy vyryje Boh doň ozdobu. Oči sú buď Božia prozreteľnosť (porov. 4,10), ktorá zvláštnym spôsobom chráni túto ríšu, alebo sú to anjeli, ktorých úlohou je strážiť ju.
Zach 3,10 - Opisuje sa pokojamilovnosť Božieho kráľovstva, porov. 1 Kr 5,5.
