Jób 26, 1-14

1 (CPDV) Then Job responded by saying:
1 (ROH) Zase odpovedal Job a riekol:

2 (CPDV) Whose assistant are you? Is he weak-minded? And do you sustain the arm of him that is not strong?
2 (ROH) Čo si pomohol tomu, kto nemá sily? Jako si zachránil rameno, ktoré nemá vlády?

3 (CPDV) To whom have you given advice? Perhaps it is to him that has no wisdom or prudence that you have revealed your many ideas.
3 (ROH) Čo si poradil tomu, kto nemá múdrosti? A dal si hojne poznať pravú podstatu vecí!

4 (CPDV) Who is it that you wanted to teach? Was it not him that created the breath of life?
4 (ROH) Komu si zvestoval slová? A čí dych to vyšiel z teba?

5 (CPDV) Behold, giant things groan under the waters, and they dwell with them.
5 (ROH) Duchovia mŕtvych sa svíjajú bolesťou pod vodami aj ich spoluobyvatelia.

6 (CPDV) The underworld is naked before him, and there is no covering for perdition.
6 (ROH) Priepasť šeola je nahá pred ním, a nieto prikrytia abaddonu.

7 (CPDV) He stretched out the North over emptiness, and he suspended the land over nothing.
7 (ROH) Rozťahuje sever nad prázdnom; zavesil zem na ničom.

8 (CPDV) He secures the waters in his clouds, so that they do not burst forth downward all at once.
8 (ROH) Zaväzuje vody do svojich oblakov, a neroztrhne sa oblak pod nimi.

9 (CPDV) He holds back the face of his throne, and he stretches his cloud over it.
9 (ROH) Drží ukrytú tvár svojho trónu; rozťahuje nad ním svoj oblak;

10 (CPDV) He has set limits around the waters, until light and darkness shall reach their limit.
10 (ROH) ustanovil medze na povrchu vody do kruhu až potiaľ, kde končí svetlo so tmou.

11 (CPDV) The pillars of heaven tremble and are frightened at his nod.
11 (ROH) Stĺpy nebies sa trasú a trnú od jeho žehrania.

12 (CPDV) By his strength, the seas suddenly gather together, and his foresight has struck the arrogant.
12 (ROH) Svojou silou búri more a svojím umom drtí Rahaba.

13 (CPDV) His spirit has adorned the heavens, and his birthing hand has brought forth the winding serpent.
13 (ROH) Od jeho ducha nebesia báj; jeho ruka prebodne dlhého hada.

14 (CPDV) Behold, these things have been said about his ways in part, and, since we barely have heard a small drop of his word, who will be able to gaze upon the thunder of his greatness?
14 (ROH) Hľa, to sú výbežky jeho ciest. A jaký je to ešte len šepot toho, čo sme počuli o ňom! A hromu jeho hrdinskej sily kto porozumie?!

Job 26,10 - "Hranica svetla so tmou" je označenie obzoru.

Job 26,12 - More tu dostáva meno Rachab (t. j. Obluda). Za vysvetlenie tohto pomenovania môže slúžiť azda to, že rozbúrené more pôsobí dojmom, akoby bolo podobné mohutnému hybkému hadovi. V starých povestiach Východu o stvorení sveta vystupuje spravidla pramore ako ozrutná hadia obluda (porov. asýrsku báj Enuma eliš a tiež 9,13; 7,12; Iz 51,10; Ž 89,11). Aj meno draka – hada "Leviatan" (3,8) súvisí s touto predstavou (26,13).
