Gn 38, 1-30

1 (CPDV) About the same time, Judah, descending from his brothers, turned toward an Adullamite man, named Hirah.

2 (CPDV) And he saw there the daughter of a man called Shua, of Canaan. And taking her as a wife, he entered to her.

3 (CPDV) And she conceived and bore a son, and she called his name Er.
3 (KAT) Ona počala a porodila syna, a nazvala ho Her.

4 (CPDV) And conceiving offspring again, having given birth to a son, she called him Onan.
4 (KAT) Potom znova počala a porodila syna, a dala mu meno Onan.

5 (CPDV) Likewise, she bore a third, whom she called Shelah, after whose birth, she ceased to bear any more.
5 (KAT) Nato ešte raz počala a zasa porodila syna, ktorého nazvala Sela. Keď ho porodila, bola v Kezibe.

6 (CPDV) Then Judah gave a wife to his first born Er, whose name was Tamar.
6 (KAT) Júda potom vzal svojmu prvorodenému Herovi za manželku Tamaru.

7 (CPDV) And it also happened that Er, the first born of Judah, was wicked in the sight of the Lord and was killed by him.
7 (KAT) Ale Her, Júdov prvorodený, sa znepáčil Pánovi a Pán mu dal zomrieť.

8 (CPDV) Therefore, Judah said to his son Onan: “Enter to the wife of your brother, and associate with her, so that you may raise offspring to your brother.”
8 (KAT) Vtedy Júda povedal Onanovi: „Obcuj so ženou svojho brata, vezmi si ju za ženu a zaisti potomstvo svojmu bratovi!“

9 (CPDV) He, knowing that the sons to be born would not be 23 his, when he entered to the wife of his brother, he spilled his seed on the ground, lest children should be born in his brother’s name.
9 (KAT) Keďže Onan vedel, že potomstvo nebude jeho, kedykoľvek obcoval so ženou svojho brata, zakaždým vylieval semeno na zem, len aby neposkytol potomstvo svojmu bratovi.

10 (CPDV) And for this reason, the Lord struck him down, because he did a detestable thing.

11 (CPDV) Because of this matter, Judah said to his daughter-in-law Tamar, “Be a widow in your father’s house, until my son Shelah grows up.” For he was afraid, lest he also might die, just as his brothers did. She went away, and she lived in her father’s house.
Tamar teda odišla a bývala v dome svojho otca.

12 (CPDV) Then, after many days had passed, the daughter of Shua, the wife of Judah, died. And when he accepted consolation after his mourning, he went up to the shearers of his sheep at Timnah, he and Hirah, the herdsman of the Adullamite flock.
12 (KAT) Po dlhšom čase Sueho dcéra, Júdova žena zomrela. Keď sa Júdovi skončil smútok, šiel so svojím priateľom Hirom z Odolamy do Tamny k strihačom svojich oviec.

13 (CPDV) And it was reported to Tamar that her father-in-law had gone up to Timnah to shear the sheep.
13 (KAT) Tamare oznámili: „Práve prichádza do Tamny tvoj svokor strihať ovce.“

14 (CPDV) And storing away the garments of her widowhood, she took up a veil. And changing her clothing, she sat at the crossroad that leads to Timnah, because Shelah had grown up, and she had not received him as a husband.

15 (CPDV) And when Judah saw her, he thought her to be a harlot. For she had covered her face, lest she be recognized.
15 (KAT) Keď ju takto Júda zbadal, pokladal ju za pobehlicu, lebo si zahalila tvár,

16 (CPDV) And entering to her, he said, “Permit me to join with you.” For he did not know her to be his daughter-in-law. And she responded, “What will you give to me, to enjoy me as a concubine?”
Ona mu vravela: „Čo mi dáš, aby si mohol so mnou obcovať?“

17 (CPDV) He said, “I will send you a young goat from the flock.” And again, she said, “I will allow what you want, if you give me a pledge, until you may send what you promise.”
17 (KAT) On odvetil: „Pošlem ti z čriedy kozľa.“ Ale ona povedala: „Daj mi záloh, kým ho nepošleš!“

18 (CPDV) Judah said, “What do you want to be given for a pledge?” She responded, “Your ring and bracelet, and the staff that you hold in your hand.” Thereupon, the woman, from one sexual encounter, conceived.
18 (KAT) On povedal: „Aký záloh ti mám dať?“ Ona vravela: „Svoj pečatný prsteň, svoju šnúru a palicu, čo máš v rukách!“ On jej to dal a obcoval s ňou, a ona od neho počala.

19 (CPDV) And she arose and went away. And storing away the garments that she had taken up, she was clothed in the garments of her widowhood.
19 (KAT) Potom vstala a odišla odtiaľ; odložila závoj a opäť si obliekla vdovské šaty.

20 (CPDV) Then Judah sent a young goat by his shepherd, the Adullamite, so that he might receive the pledge that he had given to the woman. But, when he had not found her,

21 (CPDV) he questioned the men of that place: “Where is the woman who sat at the crossroad?” And they all responded, “There has been no harlot in this place.”

22 (CPDV) He returned to Judah, and he said to him: “I did not find her. Moreover, the men of that place told me that a prostitute had never sat there.”
22 (KAT) I vrátil sa k Júdovi a povedal: „Ja som ju nenašiel a miestni ľudia tvrdia: »Tu nebola nijaká neviestka.«“

23 (CPDV) Judah said: “Let her hold herself to blame. Certainly, she is not able to accuse us of a lie. I sent the young goat that I had promised, and you did not find her.”
23 (KAT) A Júda povedal: „Nech si to má, aby sme nevyšli na posmech! Ja som jej poslal kozľa, ale ty si ju nenašiel!“

24 (CPDV) And behold, after three months, they reported to Judah, saying, “Tamar, your daughter-in-law, has committed fornication and her abdomen appears to be enlarged.” And Judah said, “Produce her, so that she may be burned.”
24 (KAT) Asi o tri mesiace oznámili Júdovi: „Tvoja nevesta Tamar sa dopustila smilstva a následkom svojho smilstva je aj ťarchavá!“ Júda povedal: „Vyveďte ju, nech ju upália!“

25 (CPDV) But when she was led out to the punishment, she sent to her father-in-law, saying: “I conceived by the man to whom these things belong. Recognize whose ring, and bracelet, and staff this is.”
25 (KAT) Keď ju vyviedli, poslala svojmu svokrovi odkaz: „Počala som od toho muža, ktorému patrí toto“ a dodala: „Pozri, čí je to majetok - tento prsteň, táto šnúra a táto palica!“

26 (CPDV) But he, acknowledging the gifts, said: “She is more just than I am. For I did not deliver her to my son Shelah.” However, he knew her no more.
Veď prečo som ju nedal svojmu synovi Selovi!?“ No viac nemal s ňou nič.

27 (CPDV) Then, at the moment of birth, there appeared twins in the womb. And so, in the very delivery of the infants, one put forth a hand, on which the midwife tied a scarlet thread, saying,
27 (KAT) Keď prišiel čas pôrodu, boli dvojčatá v jej živote.

28 (CPDV) “This one will go out first.”
28 (KAT) A keď rodila, vystrčil jeden ruku. Babica vzala červenú niť a uviazala mu ju na ruku a pritom povedala: „Tento vyšiel prvý.“

29 (CPDV) But in truth, drawing back his hand, the other came out. And the woman said, “Why is the partition divided for you?” And for this reason, she called his name Perez.
29 (KAT) On však ruku stiahol späť a vyšiel jeho brat. Tu povedala ona: „Prečo si urobil pre seba trhlinu?“ A nazvali ho Fáresom.

30 (CPDV) After this, his brother came out, on whose hand was the scarlet thread. And she called him Zerah.

Gn 38, 1-30

Verš 2
And he saw there the daughter of a man called Shua, of Canaan. And taking her as a wife, he entered to her.
1Krn 2:3 - The sons of Judah: Er, Onan, and Shelah. These three were born to him from the daughter of Shua, the Canaanite. But Er, the firstborn of Judah, was evil in the sight of the Lord, and so he killed him.

Verš 27
Then, at the moment of birth, there appeared twins in the womb. And so, in the very delivery of the infants, one put forth a hand, on which the midwife tied a scarlet thread, saying,
1Krn 2:4 - Now Tamar, his daughter-in-law, bore to him Perez and Zerah. Therefore, all the sons of Judah were five.

Verš 5
Likewise, she bore a third, whom she called Shelah, after whose birth, she ceased to bear any more.
Nm 26:20 - And these were the sons of Judah, by their kinships: Shelah, from whom is the family of the Shelahites; Perez, from whom is the family of the Perezites; Zerah, from whom is the family of the Zerahites.

Verš 29
But in truth, drawing back his hand, the other came out. And the woman said, “Why is the partition divided for you?” And for this reason, she called his name Perez.
Mt 1:3 - And Judah conceived Perez and Zerah by Tamar. And Perez conceived Hezron. And Hezron conceived Ram.

Gn 38,6-10 - Tamar značí palmu. – U Izraelitov platil tzv. levirátny zákon (lat. levir - švagor), podľa ktorého, ak zomrel ženatý muž, a nezanechal potomstvo, mal si pozostalú vdovu, teda švagrinú, vziať najbližší príbuzný nebohého manžela a prvý syn z tohto manželstva bol zákonitým potomkom zomrelého.

Príhoda má istú obdobu s Ezauom a Jakubom.
