Gn 11, 1-32

1 (CPDV) Now the earth was of one language and of the same speech.

2 (CPDV) And when they were advancing from the east, they found a plain in the land of Shinar, and they dwelt in it.

3 (CPDV) And each one said to his neighbor, “Come, let us make bricks, and bake them with fire.” And they had bricks instead of stones, and pitch instead of mortar.
3 (KAT) Tu si povedali jeden druhému: „Poďme, narobme tehál a vypáľme ich v ohni!“ Tehly im slúžili namiesto kameňa a asfalt namiesto malty.

4 (CPDV) And they said: “Come, let us make a city and a tower, so that its height may reach to heaven. And let us make our name famous before we are divided into all the lands.”
4 (KAT) Potom povedali: „Poďme, postavme si mesto a vežu, ktorej vrchol bude siahať až do neba, spravme si tak pomník, aby sme sa neroztratili po celej zemi!“

5 (CPDV) Then the Lord descended to see the city and the tower, which the sons of Adam were building.
5 (KAT) Tu zostúpil Pán, aby videl mesto a vežu, ktoré stavali ľudia,

6 (CPDV) And he said: “Behold, the people are united, and all have one tongue. And since they have begun to do this, they will not desist from their plans, until they have completed their work.

7 (CPDV) Therefore, come, let us descend, and in that place confound their tongue, so that they may not listen, each one to the voice of his neighbor.”
7 (KAT) Poďme, zostúpme a pomäťme tam ich jazyk, aby nik nerozumel reči druhého!“

8 (CPDV) And so the Lord divided them from that place into all the lands, and they ceased to build the city.
8 (KAT) A takto ich Pán odtiaľ rozohnal po celej zemi a mesto prestali stavať.

9 (CPDV) And for this reason, its name was called ‘Babel,’ because in that place the language of the whole earth became confused. And from then on, the Lord scattered them across the face of every region.
9 (KAT) Preto ho nazvali Bábelom, lebo tam Pán zmiatol reč celej zeme a Pán ich odtiaľ rozohnal po celej zemi.

10 (CPDV) These are the generations of Shem. Shem was one hundred years old when he conceived Arphaxad, two years after the great flood.

11 (CPDV) And after he conceived Arphaxad, Shem lived for five hundred years, and he conceived sons and daughters.
11 (KAT) Po Arfaxadovom narodení žil Sem päťsto rokov a narodili sa mu synovia a dcéry.

12 (CPDV) Next, Arphaxad lived for thirty-five years, and then he conceived Shelah.
12 (KAT) Keď mal Arfaxad tridsaťpäť rokov, narodil sa mu Sale.

13 (CPDV) And after he conceived Shelah, Arphaxad 7 lived for three hundred and three years, and he conceived sons and daughters.
13 (KAT) Po Saleho narodení žil Arfaxad ešte štyristotri rokov a narodili sa mu synovia a dcéry.

14 (CPDV) Likewise, Shelah lived for thirty years, and then he conceived Eber.
14 (KAT) Keď mal Sale tridsať rokov, narodil sa mu Heber.

15 (CPDV) And after he conceived Eber, Shelah lived for four hundred and three years, and he conceived sons and daughters.
15 (KAT) Po Heberovom narodení žil Sale ešte štyristotri rokov a narodili sa mu synovia a dcéry.

16 (CPDV) Then Eber lived for thirty-four years, and he conceived Peleg.
16 (KAT) Keď mal Heber tridsaťštyri rokov, narodil sa mu Faleg.

17 (CPDV) And after he conceived Peleg, Eber lived for four hundred and thirty years, and he conceived sons and daughters.
17 (KAT) Po Falegovom narodení žil Heber ešte štyristotridsať rokov a narodili sa mu synovia a dcéry.

18 (CPDV) Likewise, Peleg lived for thirty years, and then he conceived Reu.
18 (KAT) Keď mal Faleg tridsať rokov, narodil sa mu Reu.

19 (CPDV) And after he conceived Reu, Peleg lived for two hundred and nine years, and he conceived sons and daughters.
19 (KAT) Po Reuovom narodení žil Faleg ešte dvestodeväť rokov a narodili sa mu synovia a dcéry.

20 (CPDV) Then Reu lived for thirty-two years, and then he conceived Serug.
20 (KAT) Keď mal Reu tridsaťdva rokov, narodil sa mu Sarug.

21 (CPDV) Likewise, after he conceived Serug, Reu lived for two hundred and seven years, and he conceived sons and daughters.
21 (KAT) Po Sarugovom narodení žil Reu ešte dvestosedem rokov a narodili sa mu synovia a dcéry.

22 (CPDV) In truth, Serug lived for thirty years, and then he conceived Nahor.
22 (KAT) Keď mal Sarug tridsať rokov, narodil sa mu Nachor.

23 (CPDV) And after he conceived Nahor, Serug lived for two hundred years, and he conceived sons and daughters.
23 (KAT) Po Nachorovom narodení žil Sarug ešte dvesto rokov a narodili sa mu synovia a dcéry.

24 (CPDV) And so Nahor lived for twenty-nine years, and then he conceived Terah.
24 (KAT) Keď mal Nachor dvadsaťdeväť rokov, narodil sa mu Táre.

25 (CPDV) And after he conceived Terah, Nahor lived for one hundred and nineteen years, and he conceived sons and daughters.
25 (KAT) Po Táreho narodení žil Nachor ešte stodevätnásť rokov a narodili sa mu synovia a dcéry.

26 (CPDV) And Terah lived for seventy years, and then he conceived Abram, and Nahor, and Haran.
26 (KAT) Keď mal Táre sedemdesiat rokov, narodil sa mu Abram, Nachor a Aran.

27 (CPDV) And these are the generations of Terah. Terah conceived Abram, Nahor, and Haran. Next Haran conceived Lot.

28 (CPDV) And Haran died before his father Terah, in the land of his nativity, in Ur of the Chaldeans.

29 (CPDV) Then Abram and Nahor took wives. The name of Abram’s wife was Sarai. And the name of Nahor’s wife was Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah, and the father of Iscah.

30 (CPDV) But Sarai was barren and had no children.
30 (KAT) Sarai však bola neplodná; nemala detí.

31 (CPDV) And so Terah took his son Abram, and his grandson Lot, the son of Haran, and his daughter-in-law Sarai, the wife of his son Abram, and he led them away from Ur of the Chaldeans, to go into the land of Canaan. And they approached as far as Haran, and they dwelt there.
31 (KAT) A Táre vzal svojho syna Abrama, svojho vnuka, Aranovho syna Lota, aj svoju nevestu, ženu svojho syna Abrama, Sarai, vyviedol ich z Chaldejského Uru a išli do krajiny Kanaán. Prišli až do Haranu a tam sa osadili.

32 (CPDV) And the days of Terah that passed were two hundred and five years, and then he died in Haran.
32 (KAT) Táreho dní bolo dvestopäť rokov, keď Táre zomrel v Harane.

Sk 7:4 - Then he went away from the land of the 633 Chaldeans, and he lived at Haran. And later, after his father was dead, God brought him into this land, in which you now dwell.
