Jób 21, 1-34

1 (CPDV) Then Job responded by saying:
1 (ROH) A Job odpovedal a riekol:

2 (CPDV) I beseech you to hear my words and to do penance.
2 (ROH) Počujteže moju reč, a bude mi to za vaše potešenia.

3 (CPDV) Permit me, and I will speak, and afterwards, if you see fit, you can laugh at my words.
3 (ROH) Potrpte ma, aby som ja hovoril, a keď dohovorím, potom sa vysmievaj.

4 (CPDV) Is my dispute against man, so that I would have no reason to be discouraged?
4 (ROH) Či sa ja azda žalujem ľuďom? Alebo prečo by nemal môj duch ustávať v trpezlivosti?

5 (CPDV) Listen to me and be astonished, and place a finger over your mouth.

6 (CPDV) As for me, when I think it over, I am afraid, and trembling convulses my body.
6 (ROH) Keď myslím na to, trniem zdesený, a hrôza pochytáva moje telo.

7 (CPDV) Why then do the impious live, having been lifted up and strengthened with riches?
7 (ROH) Prečo žijú bezbožníci, zostarejú sa i mohutnejú v sile?

8 (CPDV) They see their offspring continue before them: a commotion of close relatives and of children’s children in their sight.
8 (ROH) Ich semeno stojí pevne u nich pred nimi a ich potomstvo pred ich očami.

9 (CPDV) Their houses have been secure and peaceable, and there is no staff of God over them.

10 (CPDV) Their cattle have conceived and have not miscarried; their cow has given birth and is not deprived of her newborn.
10 (ROH) Jeho byko skočí a nie bez oplodnenia; jeho krava sa telí a nevyvrhne.

11 (CPDV) Their little ones go out like a flock, and their children jump around playfully.

12 (CPDV) They take up the timbrel and the lyre, and they rejoice at the sound of the organ.

13 (CPDV) Their days are prolonged in wealth, yet, in an instant, they descend into hell.
13 (ROH) Trávia svoje dni v dobrom a v okamihu sostupujú do hrobu.

14 (CPDV) Who has said to God, “Depart from us, for we do not want the knowledge of your ways.
14 (ROH) A hovoria silnému Bohu: Ujdi od nás! Nechceme známosti tvojich ciest.

15 (CPDV) Who is the Almighty that we should serve him? And how is it helpful to us if we pray to him?”
15 (ROH) Čože je Všemohúci, aby sme mu slúžili? A čo nám to pomôže, keď sa mu budeme modliť?

16 (CPDV) It is true that their good things are not in their power. May the counsel of the impious be far from me!

17 (CPDV) How often will the lamp of the wicked be extinguished, and a deluge overtake them, and how often will he distribute the afflictions of his wrath?
17 (ROH) Koľko ráz zhasne lampa bezbožných? A či prichádzava na nich ich zhuba? Či im Bôh udeľuje bolesti vo svojom hneve?

18 (CPDV) They will be like chaff before the face of the wind, and like ashes that the whirlwind scatters.

19 (CPDV) God will preserve the grief of the father for his sons, and, when he repays, then he will understand.
19 (ROH) Že vraj Bôh odkladá jeho synom jeho neprávosť? Nech odplatí jemu, aby vedel!

20 (CPDV) His eyes will see his own destruction, and he will drink from the wrath of the Almighty.

21 (CPDV) For what does he care what happens to his house after him, or if the number of its months are reduced by half?

22 (CPDV) Can anyone teach holy knowledge to God, who judges the exalted?

23 (CPDV) This one dies strong and healthy, rich and happy.
23 (ROH) Jeden zomiera v plnom svojom blahobyte, cele bezpečný a pokojný;

24 (CPDV) His gut is full of fat and his bones are moistened with marrow.

25 (CPDV) In truth, another dies in bitterness of soul, without any resources.
25 (ROH) kým iný zomiera s roztrpčenou dušou a nejedol v živote dobrého.

26 (CPDV) And yet they will sleep together in the dust, and worms will cover them.
26 (ROH) No, spolu ľahnú do prachu, a červy ich pokryjú.

27 (CPDV) Surely, I know your thoughts and your sinful judgments against me.
27 (ROH) Hľa, znám vaše myšlienky a vaše úmysly použiť proti mne násilie.

28 (CPDV) For you say, “Where is the house of the ruler, and where are the tabernacles of the impious?”
28 (ROH) Lebo hovoríte: Kde je dom kniežaťa? A kde je stán príbytkov bezbožných?

29 (CPDV) Ask any passerby whom you wish, and you will realize that he understands these same things:
29 (ROH) Či ste sa nepýtali tých, ktorí idú pomimo cestou? A či ich pokynov neznáte?

30 (CPDV) that the evil-doer is reserved for the day of destruction, and he will be led to the day of wrath.
30 (ROH) Že totiž zlý človek býva ušetrený ku dňu záhuby, že bývajú vedení ku dňu výbuchov Božieho hnevu?

31 (CPDV) Who will reprove his way to his face, and who will repay him for what he has done?
31 (ROH) Kto mu oznámi jeho cestu do jeho tvári? Alebo keď on niečo spácha, kto mu odplatí?

32 (CPDV) He will be led to the tomb, and he will remain awake in the chaos of the dead.
32 (ROH) A on bude doprevadený k hrobom, a ešte i po smrti bude bdieť nad rovom.

33 (CPDV) He has been found acceptable to the banks of the River of Lamentation, and he will draw any man towards him, and there are countless before him.
33 (ROH) Budú mu sladnúť hrudy údolia, a za ním potiahne každý človek, a tým pred ním neni počtu.

34 (CPDV) Therefore, how long will you console me in vain, when your answer is shown to be repugnant to truth?
34 (ROH) A jako ma tedy potešíte márnosťou, keď vo vašich odpovediach zostáva iba faloš?

Verš 16
It is true that their good things are not in their power. May the counsel of the impious be far from me!
Jób 22:18 - though he had filled their houses with good things. May their way of thinking be far from me.

Verš 17

Rim 11:34 - For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?

Verš 30
that the evil-doer is reserved for the day of destruction, and he will be led to the day of wrath.
Prís 16:4 - The Lord has wrought all things because of himself. Likewise the impious is for the evil day.
