Gn 35, 1-29

1 (CPDV) About this time, God said to Jacob, “Arise and go up to Bethel, and live there, and make an 21 altar to God, who appeared to you when you fled from your brother Esau.”

2 (CPDV) In truth, Jacob, having called together all his house, said: “Cast away the foreign gods that are in your midst and be cleansed, and also change your garments.
2 (KAT) Vtedy Jakub povedal celej svojej rodine a všetkým, čo boli s ním: „Odstráňte cudzích bohov, ktorých máte pri sebe, očistite sa a preoblečte,

3 (CPDV) Arise, and let us go up to Bethel, so that we may make an altar there to God, who heeded me in the day of my tribulation, and who accompanied me on my journey.”

4 (CPDV) Therefore, they gave him all the foreign gods which they had, and the earrings which were in their ears. And then he buried them under the terebinth tree, which is beyond the city of Shechem.

5 (CPDV) And when they had set out, the terror of God invaded all the surrounding cities, and they dared not pursue them as they withdrew.

6 (CPDV) And so, Jacob arrived at Luz, which is in the land of Canaan, also named Bethel: he and all the people with him.

7 (CPDV) And he built an altar there, and he called the name of that place, ‘House of God.’ For there God appeared to him when he fled from his brother.
7 (KAT) Postavil tam oltár a miesto nazval Boh z Betelu, lebo sa mu tam zjavil Boh, keď utekal pred svojím bratom.

8 (CPDV) About the same time, Deborah, the nurse of Rebekah, died, and she was buried at the base of Bethel, under an oak tree. And the name of that place was called, ‘Oak of Weeping.’
8 (KAT) Vtedy zomrela Rebekina dojka Debora a pochovali ju pod dubom niže Betelu. Preto sa to volá Dub náreku.

9 (CPDV) Then God appeared again to Jacob, after he returned from Mesopotamia of Syria, and he blessed him,
9 (KAT) A keď sa Jakub vrátil z Mezopotámie, Boh sa mu zjavil zasa a požehnal ho.

10 (CPDV) saying: “You will no longer be called Jacob, for your name shall be Israel.” And he called him Israel,
10 (KAT) A Boh mu povedal: „Tvoje meno je Jakub. No nebudeš sa už volať Jakubom, lež Izrael bude tvoje meno!“ A nazval ho Izraelom.

11 (CPDV) and he said to him: “I am Almighty God: increase and multiply. Tribes and peoples of nations will be from you, and kings will go forth from your loins.
11 (KAT) Potom mu Boh povedal: „Ja som všemohúci Boh. Ploď a množ sa! Z teba povstane národ, ba skupina národov, aj králi vyjdú z tvojich bedier.

12 (CPDV) And the land that I gave to Abraham and Isaac, I will give to you, and to your offspring after you.”

13 (CPDV) And he withdrew from him.

14 (CPDV) In truth, he set up a monument of stone, in the place where God had spoken to him, pouring out libations over it, and pouring oil,
14 (KAT) Jakub však na tom mieste, kde s ním hovoril, postavil pamätník, kamenný pamätník, vylial naň mokrú obetu a pokropil ho olejom.

15 (CPDV) and he called the name of that place, ‘Bethel.’
15 (KAT) A miesto, kde s ním Boh rozprával, nazval Betel.

16 (CPDV) Then, departing from there, he arrived in springtime at the land that leads to Ephrath. And there, when Rachel was giving birth,
16 (KAT) Potom odišli od Betelu ďalej. A už nemali ďaleko do Efraty, keď Ráchel začala rodiť a mala veľmi ťažký pôrod.

17 (CPDV) because it was a difficult birth, she began to be in danger. And the midwife said to her, “Do not be afraid, for you will have this son also.”
17 (KAT) Počas ťažkého pôrodu jej povedala babica: „Neboj sa! Veď aj teraz máš syna!“

18 (CPDV) Then, when her life was departing because of the pain, and death was now imminent, she called the name of her son Benoni, that is, the son of my pain. Yet truly, his father called him Benjamin, that is, the son of the right hand.
18 (KAT) A keď jej život vyhasínal, lebo umierala, nazvala ho Benoni (Dieťa mojej bolesti), jeho otec ho však nazval Benjamín (Syn šťastia).

19 (CPDV) And so Rachel died, and she was buried in the way that leads to Ephrath: this place is Bethlehem.
19 (KAT) Ráchel teda zomrela a pochovali ju na ceste do Efraty, čiže Betlehema.

20 (CPDV) And Jacob erected a monument over her sepulcher. This is the monument to Rachel’s tomb, even to the present day.
20 (KAT) A Jakub postavil nad jej hrobom pomník. To je Ráchelin náhrobný pomník a trvá až dodnes.

21 (CPDV) Departing from there, he pitched his tent beyond the Tower of the Flock.
21 (KAT) Potom šiel Izrael ďalej a postavil svoj stan za Vežou stáda.

22 (CPDV) And when he was living in that region, Reuben went out, and he slept with Bilhah the concubine of his father, which was not such a small matter as to be hidden from him. Now the sons of Jacob were twelve.
22 (KAT) Keď sa Izrael zdržoval tu v tejto krajine, Ruben šiel a spal s Balou, vedľajšou ženou svojho otca. A Izrael sa to dozvedel. Izraelových synov bolo dvanásť.

23 (CPDV) The sons of Leah: Reuben the first born, and Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Zebulun.
23 (KAT) Synovia Lie: Ruben, Jakubov prvorodený, potom Simeon, Lévi, Júda, Isachar a Zabulon.

24 (CPDV) The sons of Rachel: Joseph and Benjamin.
24 (KAT) Synovia Ráchel: Jozef a Benjamín.

25 (CPDV) The sons of Bilhah, handmaid of Rachel: Dan and Naphtali.
25 (KAT) Synovia Baly, Ráchelinej slúžky, boli Dan a Neftali.

26 (CPDV) The sons of Zilpah, handmaid of Leah: Gad and Asher. These are the sons of Jacob, who were born to him in Mesopotamia of Syria.
26 (KAT) A synovia Zelfy, Liinej slúžky: Gad a Aser.

27 (CPDV) And then he went to his father Isaac in Mamre, the city of Arba: this place is Hebron, where Abraham and Isaac sojourned.
27 (KAT) Potom Jakub šiel k svojmu otcovi Izákovi do Mamre, do Kirjat-Arby, čiže Hebronu, kde sa Abrahám a Izák zdržovali ako prišelci.

28 (CPDV) And the days of Isaac were completed: one hundred and eighty years.
28 (KAT) A Izákových dní bolo stoosemdesiat rokov.

29 (CPDV) And being consumed by old age, he died. And he was placed with his people, being old and full of days. And his sons, Esau and Jacob, buried him.
29 (KAT) I pominul sa Izák a zomrel starý a uspokojený životom, a pripojil sa k svojmu ľudu. Jeho synovia Ezau a Jakub ho pochovali.

Gn 35, 1-29

Verš 1
About this time, God said to Jacob, “Arise and go up to Bethel, and live there, and make an 21 altar to God, who appeared to you when you fled from your brother Esau.”
Gn 28:12 - And he saw in his sleep: a ladder standing upon the earth, with its top touching heaven, also, the Angels of God ascending and descending by it,
Gn 27:43 - Therefore, now my son, listen to my voice. Rise up and flee to my brother Laban, in Haran.

Verš 7
And he built an altar there, and he called the name of that place, ‘House of God.’ For there God appeared to him when he fled from his brother.
Gn 28:19 - And he called the name of the city, ‘Bethel,’ which before was called Luz.

Verš 9
Then God appeared again to Jacob, after he returned from Mesopotamia of Syria, and he blessed him,
Oz 12:4 - And he prevailed over an angel, for he had been strengthened. He wept and petitioned him. He found him in Bethel, and there he has spoken to us.

Verš 10
saying: “You will no longer be called Jacob, for your name shall be Israel.” And he called him Israel,
Gn 32:28 - But he said, “Your name will not be called Jacob, but Israel; for if you have been strong against God, how much more will you prevail against men?”
2Kr 17:34 - Even to the present day, they follow the ancient customs; they do not fear the Lord, and they do not keep his ceremonies, and judgments, and law, and commandment, which the Lord had instructed to the sons of Jacob, whom he named Israel.

Verš 11
and he said to him: “I am Almighty God: increase and multiply. Tribes and peoples of nations will be from you, and kings will go forth from your loins.
Gn 17:1 - In truth, after he began to be ninety-nine years of age, the Lord appeared to him. And he said to him: “I am the Almighty God. Walk in my sight and become complete.
Gn 28:3 - And may God almighty bless you, and may he cause you to increase and also to multiply, so that you may be influential among the people.
Gn 48:3 - And when he had entered to him, he said: “Almighty God appeared to me at Luz, which is in the land of Canaan, and he blessed me.
Gn 17:6 - And I will cause you to increase very greatly, and I will set you among the nations, and kings will come forth from you.
Gn 17:16 - And I will bless her, and from her I will give you a son, whom I will bless, and he will be among the nations, and the kings of the peoples will rise from him.”
Mt 1:6 - And Jesse conceived king David. And king David conceived Solomon, by her who had been the wife of Uriah.

Verš 14
In truth, he set up a monument of stone, in the place where God had spoken to him, pouring out libations over it, and pouring oil,
Gn 28:18 - Therefore, Jacob, arising in the morning, took the stone which he had placed under his head, and he set it up as monument, pouring oil over it.

Verš 19
And so Rachel died, and she was buried in the way that leads to Ephrath: this place is Bethlehem.
Gn 48:7 - As for me, when I came from Mesopotamia, Rachel died in the land of Canaan on the very journey, and it was springtime. And I entered Ephrath and buried her next to the way of Ephrath, which by another name is called Bethlehem.”

Verš 22
And when he was living in that region, Reuben went out, and he slept with Bilhah the concubine of his father, which was not such a small matter as to be hidden from him. Now the sons of Jacob were twelve.
Gn 49:4 - You are being poured out like water, may you not increase. For you climbed onto your father’s bed, and you defiled his resting place.

Verš 23
The sons of Leah: Reuben the first born, and Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Zebulun.
Gn 46:8 - Now these are the names of the sons of Israel, who entered into Egypt, he with his children. The firstborn is Reuben.
Ex 1:2 - Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah,

Verš 29
And being consumed by old age, he died. And he was placed with his people, being old and full of days. And his sons, Esau and Jacob, buried him.
Gn 25:8 - And declining, he died in a good old age, and at an advanced stage of life, and full of days. And he was gathered to his people.

Stála medzi Betlehemom a Hebronom (Lk 2,9 n.). Jakuba už zarmútili dvaja synovia, Simeon a Lévi (34,30), a teraz ho zarmucuje Ruben hanebným skutkom, ktorý Jakub nezabudne a zbaví preň Rubena práva prvorodeného (49,4).

Gn 35,27-29 - Mambre pozri 13,18, Kirjat-Arbe (23,2). Pripojil sa k svojmu ľudu – pozri 25,8. Izáka pochovali v jaskyni Makpele (49,31, porov. s 25,9 a 23,19). – Jakub mal pri otcovej smrti 120 rokov (25,26) a Jakub mal 108 rokov, keď predali sedemnásťročného Jozefa (37,2), teda Izák žil ešte po predaní Jozefa dvanásť rokov, keďže všetkých rokov Izákových bolo 180. Svätopisec opisuje smrť Izákovu vopred a len potom udalosti, ktoré sa zbehli okolo Jozefa.
