1Kor 1, 1-31

1 Paul, called as an Apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God; and Sosthenes, a brother: 2 to the Church of God which is at Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints with all who are invoking the name of our Lord Jesus Christ in every place of theirs and of ours. 3 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ. 4 I give thanks to my God continuously for you because of the grace of God that has been given to you in Christ Jesus. 5 By that grace, in all things, you have become wealthy in him, in every word and in all knowledge. 6 And so, the testimony of Christ has been strengthened in you. 7 In this way, nothing is lacking to you in any grace, as you await the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ. 8 And he, too, will strengthen you, even until the end, without guilt, until the day of the advent of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 God is faithful. Through him, you have been called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. 10 And so, I beg you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that every one of you speak in the same way, and that there be no schisms among you. So may you become perfect, with the same mind and with the same judgment. 11 For it has been indicated to me, about you, my brothers, by those who are with Chloes, that there are contentions among you. 12 Now I say this because each of you is saying: “Certainly, I am of Paul;” “But I am of Apollo;” “Truly, I am of Cephas;” as well as: “I am of Christ.” 13 Has Christ been divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul? 14 I give thanks to God that I have baptized none of you, except Crispus and Gaius, 15 lest anyone say that you have been baptized in my name. 16 And I also baptized the household of Stephanus. Other than these, I do not recall if I baptized any others. 17 For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to evangelize: not through the wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ become empty. 18 For the Word of the Cross is certainly foolishness to those who are perishing. But to those who have been saved, that is, to us, it is the power of God. 19 For it has been written: “I will perish the wisdom of the wise, and I will reject the discernment of the prudent.” 20 Where are the wise? Where are the scribes? Where are the truth-seekers of this age? Has not God made the wisdom of this world into foolishness? 21 For the world did not know God through wisdom, and so, in the wisdom of God, it 657 pleased God to accomplish the salvation of believers, through the foolishness of our preaching. 22 For the Jews ask for signs, and the Greeks seek wisdom. 23 But we are preaching Christ crucified. Certainly, to the Jews, this is a scandal, and to the Gentiles, this is foolishness. 24 But to those who have been called, Jews as well as Greeks, the Christ is the virtue of God and the wisdom of God. 25 For what is foolishness to God is considered wise by men, and that which is weakness to God is considered strong by men. 26 So take care of your vocation, brothers. For not many are wise according to the flesh, not many are powerful, not many are noble. 27 But God has chosen the foolish of the world, so that he may confound the wise. And God has chosen the weak of the world, so that he may confound the strong. 28 And God has chosen the ignoble and contemptible of the world, those who are nothing, so that he may reduce to nothing those who are something. 29 So then, nothing that is of the flesh should glory in his sight. 30 But you are of him in Christ Jesus, who was made by God to be our wisdom and justice and sanctification and redemption. 31 And so, in the same way, it was written: “Whoever glories, should glory in the Lord.”

1Kor 1, 1-31

Verš 2
to the Church of God which is at Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints with all who are invoking the name of our Lord Jesus Christ in every place of theirs and of ours.

1Sol 4:7 - For God has not called us to impurity, but to sanctification.
Rim 1:7 - To all who are at Rome, the beloved of God, called as saints. Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
Ef 1:1 - Paul, an Apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, to all the saints who are at Ephesus and to the faithful in Christ Jesus.
2Tim 2:22 - So then, flee from the desires of your youth, yet truly, pursue justice, faith, hope, charity, and peace, along with those who call upon the Lord from a pure heart.

Verš 3
Grace and peace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
Rim 1:7 - To all who are at Rome, the beloved of God, called as saints. Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
2Kor 1:2 - Grace and peace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
Ef 1:2 - Grace and peace to you from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
1Pt 1:2 - in accord with the foreknowledge of God the Father, in the sanctification of the Spirit, with the obedience and the sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: May grace and peace be multiplied for you.

Verš 5
By that grace, in all things, you have become wealthy in him, in every word and in all knowledge.
Kol 1:9 - Then, too, from the day when we first heard it, we have not ceased praying for you and requesting that you be filled with the knowledge of his will, with all wisdom and spiritual understanding,

Verš 7
In this way, nothing is lacking to you in any grace, as you await the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Flp 3:20 - But our way of life is in heaven. And from heaven, too, we await the Savior, our Lord Jesus Christ,
Tít 2:13 - looking forward to the blessed hope and the advent of the glory of the great God and of our Savior Jesus Christ.

Verš 8
And he, too, will strengthen you, even until the end, without guilt, until the day of the advent of our Lord Jesus Christ.
1Sol 3:13 - in order to confirm your hearts without blame, in sanctity, before God our Father, unto the return of our Lord Jesus Christ, with all his saints. Amen.
1Sol 5:23 - And may the God of peace himself sanctify you through all things, so that your whole spirit and soul and body may be preserved without blame unto the return of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Verš 9
God is faithful. Through him, you have been called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
1Kor 10:13 - Temptation should not take hold of you, except what is human. For God is faithful, and he will not permit you to be tempted beyond your ability. Instead, he will effect his Providence, even during temptation, so that you may be able to bear it.
1Sol 5:24 - He who has called you is faithful. He shall act even now.
Jer 32:40 - And I will form an everlasting covenant with them, and I will not cease to do good for them. And I will put my fear into their heart, so that they do not withdraw from me.
Jn 15:5 - I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me, and I in him, bears much fruit. For without me, you are able to do nothing.
Gal 2:20 - I live; yet now, it is not I, but truly Christ, who lives in me. And though I live now in the flesh, I live in the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and who delivered himself for me.
1Jn 1:3 - He whom we have seen and heard, we announce to you, so that you, too, may have fellowship with us, and so that our fellowship may be with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ.

Verš 10
And so, I beg you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that every one of you speak in the same way, and that there be no schisms among you. So may you become perfect, with the same mind and with the same judgment.
Rim 12:16 - Be of the same mind toward one another: not savoring what is exalted, but consenting in humility. Do not choose to seem wise to yourself.
Rim 15:5 - So may the God of patience and solace grant you to be of one mind toward one another, in accord with Jesus Christ,
Flp 2:2 - complete my joy by having the same understanding, holding to the same charity, being of one mind, with the same sentiment.
Flp 3:16 - Yet truly, whatever point we reach, let us be of the same mind, and let us remain in the same rule.
1Pt 3:8 - And finally, may you all be of one mind: compassionate, loving brotherhood, merciful, meek, humble,

Verš 12
Now I say this because each of you is saying: “Certainly, I am of Paul;” “But I am of Apollo;” “Truly, I am of Cephas;” as well as: “I am of Christ.”
1Kor 3:4 - For if one says, “Certainly, I am of Paul,” while another says, “I am of Apollo,” are you not men? But what is Apollo, and what is Paul?
Sk 18:24 - Now a certain Jew named Apollo, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man who was powerful with the Scriptures, arrived at Ephesus.
1Kor 16:12 - But concerning our brother, Apollo, I am letting you know that I pleaded with him greatly to go to you with the brothers, and clearly it was not his will to go at this time. But he will arrive when there is a space of time for him.

Verš 14
I give thanks to God that I have baptized none of you, except Crispus and Gaius,
Sk 18:8 - Now Crispus, a leader of the synagogue, believed in the Lord, with his entire house. And many of the Corinthians, upon hearing, believed and were baptized.
Rim 16:23 - Gaius, my host, and the entire church, greets you. Erastus, the treasurer of the city, greets you, and Quartus, a brother.

Verš 16
And I also baptized the household of Stephanus. Other than these, I do not recall if I baptized any others.
1Kor 16:15 - And I beg you, brothers: You know the house of Stephanus, and of Fortunatus, and of Achaicus, that they are the first-fruits of Achaia, and that they have dedicated themselves to the ministry of the saints.
1Kor 16:17 - Now I rejoice in the presence of Stephanus and Fortunatus and Achaicus, because what was lacking in you, they have supplied.

Verš 17
For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to evangelize: not through the wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ become empty.
1Kor 2:1 - And so, brothers, when I came to you, announcing to you the testimony of Christ, I did not bring exalted words or lofty wisdom.
1Kor 2:4 - And my words and preaching were not the persuasive words of human wisdom, but were a manifestation of the Spirit and of virtue,
2Pt 1:16 - For it was not by following fanciful doctrines that we made known to you the power and presence of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were made eyewitnesses of his greatness.

Verš 18
For the Word of the Cross is certainly foolishness to those who are perishing. But to those who have been saved, that is, to us, it is the power of God.
Rim 1:16 - For I am not ashamed of the Gospel. For it is the power of God unto salvation for all believers, the Jew first, and the Greek.

Verš 19
For it has been written: “I will perish the wisdom of the wise, and I will reject the discernment of the prudent.”
Jób 5:12 - He dispels the thoughts of the spiteful, lest their hands be able to complete what they had begun.
Iz 29:14 - for this reason, behold, I will proceed to accomplish a wonder for this people, a great and mystifying miracle. For wisdom will perish from their wise, and the understanding of their prudent will be concealed.

Verš 20
Where are the wise? Where are the scribes? Where are the truth-seekers of this age? Has not God made the wisdom of this world into foolishness?
Iz 33:18 - Your heart will meditate on fear. Where are the learned? Where are those who ponder the words of the law? Where are the teachers of little ones?

Verš 21
For the world did not know God through wisdom, and so, in the wisdom of God, it 657 pleased God to accomplish the salvation of believers, through the foolishness of our preaching.
Mt 11:25 - At that time, Jesus responded and said: “I acknowledge you, Father, Lord of Heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and the prudent, and have revealed them to little ones.
Lk 10:21 - In the same hour, he exulted in the Holy Spirit, and he said: “I confess to you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and the prudent, and have revealed them to little ones. It is so, Father, because this way was pleasing before you.

Verš 22
For the Jews ask for signs, and the Greeks seek wisdom.
Mt 12:38 - Then certain ones from the scribes and the Pharisees responded to him, saying, “Teacher, we want to see a sign from you.”
Mt 16:1 - And Pharisees and Sadducees approached him to test him, and they asked him to show them a sign from heaven.
Jn 4:48 - Therefore, Jesus said to him, “Unless you have seen signs and wonders, you do not believe.”

Verš 23
But we are preaching Christ crucified. Certainly, to the Jews, this is a scandal, and to the Gentiles, this is foolishness.
Mt 11:6 - And blessed is he who has found no offense in me.”
Jn 6:60 - He said these things when he was teaching in the synagogue at Capernaum.
Jn 6:66 - And so he said, “For this reason, I said to you that no one is able to come to me, unless it has been given to him by my Father.”

Verš 24
But to those who have been called, Jews as well as Greeks, the Christ is the virtue of God and the wisdom of God.
Kol 2:3 - For in him are hidden all treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

Verš 26
So take care of your vocation, brothers. For not many are wise according to the flesh, not many are powerful, not many are noble.
Jn 7:48 - Have any of the leaders believed in him, or any of the Pharisees?
Jak 2:5 - My most beloved brothers, listen. Has not God chosen the poor in this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom that God has promised to those who love him?

Verš 30
But you are of him in Christ Jesus, who was made by God to be our wisdom and justice and sanctification and redemption.
Jer 23:5 - Behold, the days are approaching, says the Lord, when I will raise up to David a righteous branch. And a king will reign, and he will be wise. And he will exercise judgment and justice upon the earth.
Jn 17:19 - And it is for them that I sanctify myself, so that they, too, may be sanctified in truth.

Verš 31
And so, in the same way, it was written: “Whoever glories, should glory in the Lord.”
Iz 65:16 - By that name, whoever is blessed on earth, will be blessed in God. Amen! And whoever swears on earth, will swear by God. Amen! For the past anguishes have been delivered into oblivion, and they have been hidden from my eyes.
Jer 9:23 - Thus says the Lord: “The wise man should not glory in his wisdom, and the strong man should not glory in his strength, and the rich man should not glory in his riches.
2Kor 10:17 - But whoever glories, let him glory in the Lord.

1Kor 1,1 - Pavol pravdepodobne diktoval list Sostenovi.

1Kor 1,19 - Iz 29, 14.

1Kor 1,21 - Božia múdrosť sa prejavila v Božích dielach, kde ju mal človek vybadať a spoznať (Rim 1, 19–20).

1Kor 1,22 - Židia dávali prednosť Mesiášovi (porov. Mt 12, 38; Jn 4, 48), tvorcovi verejných divov, kým Gréci sa strácali vo filozofii (porov. Sk 17, 12 n.).

1Kor 1,31 - Voľné citovanie Jer 9, 22 n.
