1 (CPDV) But Eliphaz the Themanite, answering, said:
1 (ROH) Na to odpovedal Elifaz Témanský a riekol:

2 (ROH) Jestli sa pokúsime prehovoriť k tebe slovo, neunaví ťa to? Ale kto by sa aj mohol zdržať, aby nehovoril?!

3 (CPDV) Behold, you have taught many, and you have strengthened weary hands.
3 (ROH) Hľa, učieval si mnohých a zomdlené ruky si posilňoval;

4 (CPDV) Your words have reassured the wavering, and you have fortified the trembling knees.
4 (ROH) tvoje slová pozdvihovaly klesajúceho, a zmocňoval si kolená, ktoré sa nakláňaly od slabosti.

5 (CPDV) But now the scourge has overcome you, and you falter. It has touched you, and you are disturbed.
5 (ROH) A keď teraz prišlo toto na teba, ťažko to nesieš; dotklo sa ťa, a si predesený.

6 (CPDV) Where is your reverence, your fortitude, your patience, and the perfection of your ways?
6 (ROH) Či nebola tvoja bohabojnosť tvojou nádejou, tvojím očakávaním bezúhonnosť tvojich ciest?

7 (CPDV) Consider this, I beg you: who ever perished being innocent? Or when have the righteous been destroyed?
7 (ROH) Nože sa rozpomeň, kde ktorý nevinný kedy zahynul? Alebo kde boli kedy spravedliví vyhladení?

8 (CPDV) In fact, I have instead seen those who work iniquity and who sow resentments, reap them,
8 (ROH) Jako som vídal tých, ktorí orali neprávosť a siali trápenie, že to i žali.

9 (CPDV) perishing by the breath of God, and being consumed by the wrath of his spirit.
9 (ROH) Zahynuli od dychu Božieho a od ducha jeho hnevu zanikli.

10 (CPDV) The roaring of the lion, and the voice of the lioness, and the teeth of young lions have been worn away.
10 (ROH) Revanie ľva a hlas ľvice umĺkne, a zuby ľvíčat bývajú vylámané;

11 (CPDV) The tiger has perished because it does not have prey, and the young lions have been scattered.
11 (ROH) starý lev hynie, keď nieto koristi, a mláďatá ľvice sa rozpŕchnu.

12 (CPDV) Furthermore, a word was spoken to me in secret, and, as if by theft, my ears received the pulse of its whisper.
12 (ROH) Ale ku mne sa prikradlo slovo, a moje ucho pochytilo niečo málo z toho.

13 (CPDV) In the horror of a vision by night, when men are accustomed to be overtaken by a deep sleep,
13 (ROH) V dumách, pochádzajúcich z nočných videní, keď pripáda hlboký spánok na ľudí,

14 (CPDV) fear and trembling seized me and all my bones were terrified.
14 (ROH) nadišiel na mňa strach, a pochytilo ma trasenie, čo prestrašilo množstvo mojich kostí.

15 (CPDV) And when a spirit passed before me, the hair on my body stood up.
15 (ROH) Lebo nejaký duch prešiel popred moju tvár: dupkom vstaly vlasy na mojom tele.

16 (CPDV) There appeared an image before my eyes, someone whose face I did not recognize, and I heard a voice like a gentle breeze.
16 (ROH) Zastál, ale som nepoznal jeho tvári, len nejaká podoba stála pred mojimi očima. Bolo ticho, a počul som nejaký hlas:

17 (CPDV) Should man be justified in relation to God, or will a man be more pure than his Maker?
17 (ROH) Či je smrteľný človek spravedlivejší ako Bôh, alebo či je muž čistejší nad toho, ktorý ho učinil?

18 (CPDV) Behold, those who serve him are not steadfast, and in his angels he finds imperfection.
18 (ROH) Hľa, neverí ani svojim sluhom a pri svojich anjeloch zistil nedostatok.

19 (CPDV) How much more will those who live in houses of clay, which have an earthly foundation, be consumed like 294 the moth?
19 (ROH) A čo potom povedať o tých, ktorí bývajú v domoch z hliny, ktorých základ je založený na prachu?! Rozdrtia ich skôr ako moľa.

20 (CPDV) From morning all the way to evening, they will be cut down, and because no one understands, they will be destroyed without ceasing.
20 (ROH) Od rána do večera bývajú skrúšení; bez toho, že by si toho všímali, hynú na večnosť.

21 (CPDV) But those who are left behind will be taken away from them; they will die, and not in wisdom.
21 (ROH) Či nejde ta s nimi aj ich sláva? Zomierajú, ale nie v múdrosti.
