Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble.
Ž 90:5 - Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep: in the morning they are like grass which groweth up.

Ž 102:11 - My days are like a shadow that declineth; and I am withered like grass.

He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: he fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not.

Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months are with thee, thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass;

Turn from him, that he may rest, till he shall accomplish, as an hireling, his day.

Job 14,4 - Pred nesmiernou Božou svätosťou každý človek musí sa cítiť nečistým; kresťanská exegéza vidí v tejto stati narážku na dedičný hriech.
Job 14,14-17 - V prípade, že by som sa mohol navrátiť z podsvetia na svet, potom by som chcel trpezlivo vyčkávať, až by sa ti utíšil hnev, ba celkom by ustal a prišiel by si pre mňa, aby si ma znovu do života postavil pod ochranu svojej dobrotivej otcovskej starostlivosti.
Job 14,18-20 - Ako vždy pôsobia svojou nezadržateľnou mocou mohutné prírodné sily, tak prevádza svoju moc nad človekom aj smrť. Jej sile nikto nevie odolať.
