1 (UKJV) And there went a man of the house of Levi, and took to wife a daughter of Levi.
2 (UKJV) And the woman conceived, and bare a son: and when she saw him that he was a goodly child, she hid him three months.
3 (UKJV) "And when she could not longer hide him, she took for him an ark of bulrushes, and daubed it with bitumen and with pitch, and put the child therein; and she laid it in the flags by the river's brink. "
4 (UKJV) And his sister stood far off, to know what would be done to him.
5 (UKJV) "And the daughter of Pharaoh came down to wash herself at the river; and her maidens walked along by the river's side; and when she saw the ark among the flags, she sent her maid to fetch it. "
A keď uvidela koš medzi rákosím, poslala svoju dievku a vzala ho.
6 (UKJV) And when she had opened it, she saw the child: and, behold, the babe wept. And she had compassion on him, and said, This is one of the Hebrews' children.
6 (ROH) A otvoriac koš uvidela ho, dieťa, a hľa, plačúce chlapča.
7 (UKJV) Then said his sister to Pharaoh's daughter, Shall I go and call to you a nurse of the Hebrew women, that she may nurse the child for you?
7 (ROH) A jeho sestra povedala dcére faraonovej: Či mám ísť a zavolať ti ženu dojku, z hebrejských žien, aby ti odchovala dieťa?
8 (UKJV) And Pharaoh's daughter said to her, Go. And the maid went and called the child's mother.
8 (ROH) A dcéra faraonova jej riekla: Iď! A deva išla a zavolala matku dieťaťa.
9 (UKJV) And Pharaoh's daughter said unto her, Take this child away, and nurse it for me, and I will give you your wages. And the women took the child, and nursed it.
9 (ROH) A dcéra faraonova jej riekla: Odnes toto dieťa a odchovaj mi ho, a ja ti dám tvoju mzdu. A žena vzala dieťa a chovala ho.
10 (UKJV) And the child grew, and she brought him unto Pharaoh's daughter, and he became her son. And she called his name Moses: and she said, Because I drew him out of the water.
10 (ROH) A keď odrástlo dieťa, doviedla ho k dcére faraonovej.
11 (UKJV) And it came to pass in those days, when Moses was grown, that he went out unto his brethren, and looked on their burdens: and he spied an Egyptian smiting an Hebrew, one of his brethren.
12 (UKJV) And he looked this way and that way, and when he saw that there was no man, he slew the Egyptian, and hid him in the sand.
13 (UKJV) And when he went out the second day, behold, two men of the Hebrews strove together: and he said to him that did the wrong, Wherefore smite you your fellow?
14 (UKJV) And he said, Who made you a prince and a judge over us? intend you to kill me, as you killed the Egyptian? And Moses feared, and said, Surely this thing is known.
A Mojžiš sa bál a povedal: Vec sa istotne vie.
Vuoi tu uccider me come uccidesti l’Egiziano?" Allora Mosè ebbe paura, e disse: "Certo, la cosa è nota".
15 (UKJV) Now when Pharaoh heard this thing, he sought to slay Moses. But Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh, and dwelt in the land of Midian: and he sat down by a well.
15 (ROH) A keď počul faraon tú vec, hľadal zabiť Mojžiša.
16 (UKJV) Now the priest of Midian had seven daughters: and they came and drew water, and filled the troughs to water their father's flock.
16 (ROH) A madianský kňaz mal sedem dcér, ktoré prišly a ťahaly vodu a nalievaly do válovov, aby napojily stádo oviec a kôz svojho otca.
17 (UKJV) And the shepherds came and drove them away: but Moses stood up and helped them, and watered their flock.
17 (ROH) Ale prijdúc pastieri odohnali ich. Vtedy vstal Mojžiš a pomohol im a napojil ich stádo.
18 (UKJV) And when they came to Reuel their father, he said, How is it that all of you are come so soon to day?
19 (UKJV) And they said, An Egyptian delivered us out of the hand of the shepherds, and also drew water enough for us, and watered the flock.
19 (ROH) A ony riekly: Nejaký Egypťan nás vyslobodil z ruky pastierov, ba ešte nám i naťahal vody a napojil stádo.
20 (UKJV) And he said unto his daughters, And where is he? why is it that all of you have left the man? call him, that he may eat bread.
20 (ROH) A povedal svojim dcéram: A kdeže je? Prečo ste tam nechaly človeka? Zavolajte ho, a bude jesť chlieb.
20 (RIV) Ed egli disse alle sue figliuole: "E dov’è? Perché avete lasciato là quell’uomo? Chiamatelo, che prenda qualche cibo".
21 (UKJV) And Moses was content to dwell with the man: and he gave Moses Zipporah his daughter.
21 (ROH) A Mojžiš privolil bývať s mužom.
22 (UKJV) And she bare him a son, and he called his name Gershom: for he said, I have been a stranger in a strange land.
22 (ROH) A porodila syna, a nazval jeho meno Geršom , lebo povedal: Pohostín som v cudzej zemi.
22 (RIV) Ed ella partorì un figliuolo ch’egli chiamò Ghershom; "perché, disse, io soggiorno in terra straniera".
23 (UKJV) And it came to pass in process of time, that the king of Egypt died: and the children of Israel sighed by reason of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up unto God by reason of the bondage.
24 (UKJV) And God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.
25 (UKJV) And God looked upon the children of Israel, and God had respect unto them.
25 (ROH) A Bôh videl synov Izraelových a Bôh zvedel.

And God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.
Gn 15:14 - And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance.
Mojžiša faraónova dcéra adoptovala a dala mu egyptské meno. Egyptské slová sa neuvádzajú, svätopisec si však osvojuje ľudový výklad a meno Mojžiš spája s hebrejským mášáh, ,ťahal', teda móšeh ,vytiahnutý'.
Ex 2,15 - O Madiánsku pozri Gn 25,2; 37,28.36. Jeden z madiánskych kmeňov sídlil na západe Sinajského polostrova neďaleko Horeba-Sinaja. K tomuto kmeňu prináležal aj madiánsky kňaz Raguel-Jetro, či Hobab (Sdc 4,11), u ktorého Mojžiš našiel prístrešie.
Ex 2,16 - Jetrov kmeň, žijúci na púšti, zachoval si poznanie a kult pravého Boha (Gn 25,2 a Ex 18,1 n.), kým ostatní Madiánčania odpadli k modloslužbe.
Ex 2,22 - Gersam – ger ,cudzinec', šam ,tam', teda ,cudzinec tam (v tejto zemi)'.
Trpeli a hynuli ďalej. Podľa tejto druhej mienky Izraeliti by boli vyšli z Egypta okolo r. 1250.
