And the fifth Angel sounded the trumpet. And I saw upon the earth, a star that had fallen from heaven, and the key to the well of the abyss was given to him.

And it was commanded of them that they must not harm the plants of the earth, nor anything green, nor any tree, but only those men who do not have the Seal of God upon their foreheads.

And in those days, men will seek death and they will not find it. And they will desire to die, and death will flee from them.

And the likenesses of the locusts resembled horses prepared for battle. And upon their heads were something like crowns similar to gold. And their faces were like the faces of men.

And they had over them a king, the Angel of the abyss, whose name in Hebrew is Doom; in Greek, Destroyer; in Latin, Exterminator.

One woe has gone out, but behold, there are still two woes approaching afterward.
Zjv 8:13 - And I saw, and I heard the voice of a lone eagle flying through the midst of heaven, calling with a great voice: “Woe, Woe, Woe, to the inhabitants of the earth, from the remaining voices of the three Angels, who will soon sound the trumpet!”

saying to the sixth Angel who had the trumpet: “Release the four Angels who were bound at the great river Euphrates.”

And the rest of men, who were not slain by these afflictions, did not repent from the works of their hands, so that they would not worship demons, or idols of gold and silver and brass and stone and wood, which can neither see, nor hear, nor walk.

Zjv 9,1 - Hviezda, ktorá spadla z neba, je satan (porov. Lk 10, 18). "Priepasť" podľa židovských predstáv je miesto, kde boli dočasne uväznení zlí duchovia (porov. Lk 8, 31; 2 Pt 2, 4; Júd 6).
Zjv 9,3 - Kobylky sú symbolom činnosti zlých duchov. Porov. Joel 1.
Zjv 9,10 - Päť mesiacov je približná dĺžka života kobyliek.
Zjv 9,11 - "Abaddon" znamená doslova "záhuba". V Starom zákone je synonymom podsvetia (šeol). Porov. Jób 26, 6; 28, 22; Ž 88, 12. Grécky názov Apollyon znamená ničiteľ.
Zjv 9,14 - V tom čase sa Rímska ríša rozprestierala na východe až po rieku Eufrat. Za ňou sídlili Parti so svojím obávaným jazdeckým vojskom.
Zjv 9,16-19 - Čísla a alegorický opis označujú hroznú silu zlých duchov.
Zjv 9,20 - Nepriatelia Boha zotrvávajú vo svojom odpore. Porov. Iz 17, 8; Dan 5, 4. 23; Ž 135, 15–17.
