Zjv 9, 1-21

1 (CPDV) And the fifth Angel sounded the trumpet. And I saw upon the earth, a star that had fallen from heaven, and the key to the well of the abyss was given to him.

2 (CPDV) And he opened the well of the abyss. And the smoke of the well ascended, like the smoke of a great furnace. And the sun and the air were obscured by the smoke of the well.

3 (CPDV) And locusts went forth from the smoke of the well into the earth. And power was given to them, like the power that the scorpions of the earth have.

4 (CPDV) And it was commanded of them that they must not harm the plants of the earth, nor anything green, nor any tree, but only those men who do not have the Seal of God upon their foreheads.

5 (CPDV) And it was given to them that they would not kill them, but that they would torture them for five months. And their torture was like the torture of a 702 scorpion, when he strikes a man.

6 (CPDV) And in those days, men will seek death and they will not find it. And they will desire to die, and death will flee from them.

7 (CPDV) And the likenesses of the locusts resembled horses prepared for battle. And upon their heads were something like crowns similar to gold. And their faces were like the faces of men.

8 (CPDV) And they had hair like the hair of women. And their teeth were like the teeth of lions.

9 (CPDV) And they had breastplates like iron breastplates. And the noise of their wings was like the noise of many running horses, rushing to battle.

10 (CPDV) And they had tails similar to scorpions. And there were stingers in their tails, and these had the power to harm men for five months.

11 (CPDV) And they had over them a king, the Angel of the abyss, whose name in Hebrew is Doom; in Greek, Destroyer; in Latin, Exterminator.

12 (CPDV) One woe has gone out, but behold, there are still two woes approaching afterward.

13 (CPDV) And the sixth Angel sounded the trumpet. And I heard a lone voice from the four horns of the golden altar, which is before the eyes of God,

14 (CPDV) saying to the sixth Angel who had the trumpet: “Release the four Angels who were bound at the great river Euphrates.”

15 (CPDV) And the four Angels were released, who had been prepared for that hour, and day, and month, and year, in order to kill one third part of men.

16 (CPDV) And the number of the army of horsemen was two hundred million. For I heard their number.

17 (CPDV) And I also saw the horses in the vision. And those who were sitting upon them had breastplates of fire and hyacinth and sulphur. And the heads of the horses were like the heads of lions. And from their mouths proceeded fire and smoke and sulphur.

18 (CPDV) And one third part of men were slain by these three afflictions: by the fire and by the smoke and by the sulphur, which proceeded from their mouths.

19 (CPDV) For the power of these horses is in their mouths and in their tails. For their tails resemble serpents, having heads; and it is with these that they cause harm.

20 (CPDV) And the rest of men, who were not slain by these afflictions, did not repent from the works of their hands, so that they would not worship demons, or idols of gold and silver and brass and stone and wood, which can neither see, nor hear, nor walk.

21 (CPDV) And they did not repent from their murders, nor from their drugs, nor from their fornication, nor from their thefts.

Lk 8:31 - And they petitioned him not to order them to go into the abyss.

Zjv 17:8 - The beast that you saw, was, and is not, and is soon to ascend from the abyss. And he goes forth unto destruction. And the inhabitants upon the earth (those whose names have not been written in the Book of Life from the foundation of the world) shall be amazed upon seeing the beast who was and is not.

Verš 4

And it was commanded of them that they must not harm the plants of the earth, nor anything green, nor any tree, but only those men who do not have the Seal of God upon their foreheads.

Zjv 6:6 - And I heard something like a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, “A double measure of wheat for a denarius, and three double measures of barley for a denarius, but do no harm to wine and oil.”

Ez 9:4 - And the Lord said to him: “Cross through the middle of the city, in the center of Jerusalem, and seal a Tau upon the foreheads of the grieving men, who are mourning over all the abominations which are being committed in its midst.”

Zjv 7:3 - saying: “Do no harm to the earth, nor to the sea, nor to the trees, until we seal the servants of our God on their foreheads.”

Verš 6

And in those days, men will seek death and they will not find it. And they will desire to die, and death will flee from them.

Iz 2:19 - And they will go into the caves of the rocks, and into the caverns of the earth, from the presence of the dread of the Lord, and from the glory of his majesty, when he will have risen up to strike the earth.

Jer 8:3 - And they will greatly prefer death to life: all those who will have been left from this wicked kindred, in all the forsaken places to which I will cast them out, says the Lord of hosts.

Oz 10:8 - And the heights of the idol, the sin of Israel, will be utterly destroyed. The burr and the thistle will rise up over their altars. And they will say to the mountains, ‘Cover us,’ and to the hills, ‘Fall on us.’

Lk 23:30 - Then they will begin to say to the mountains, ‘Fall over us,’ and to the hills, ‘Cover us.’

Zjv 6:16 - And they said to the mountains and the rocks: “Fall over us and hide us from the face of the One sitting upon the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb.

Ex 10:4 - But if you resist, and you are unwilling to release them, behold, tomorrow I will bring locusts into your borders.

And they had over them a king, the Angel of the abyss, whose name in Hebrew is Doom; in Greek, Destroyer; in Latin, Exterminator.

One woe has gone out, but behold, there are still two woes approaching afterward.

Zjv 8:13 - And I saw, and I heard the voice of a lone eagle flying through the midst of heaven, calling with a great voice: “Woe, Woe, Woe, to the inhabitants of the earth, from the remaining voices of the three Angels, who will soon sound the trumpet!”

saying to the sixth Angel who had the trumpet: “Release the four Angels who were bound at the great river Euphrates.”

Zjv 7:1 - After these things, I saw four Angels standing above the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, so that they would not blow upon the earth, nor upon the sea, nor upon any tree.

Verš 20

And the rest of men, who were not slain by these afflictions, did not repent from the works of their hands, so that they would not worship demons, or idols of gold and silver and brass and stone and wood, which can neither see, nor hear, nor walk.

Ž 115:4 - I will take up the cup of salvation, and I will call upon the name of the Lord.

Ž 135:15 - And he shook off Pharaoh and his army in the Red Sea, for his mercy is eternal.

Zjv 9,1 - Hviezda, ktorá spadla z neba, je satan (porov. Lk 10, 18). "Priepasť" podľa židovských predstáv je miesto, kde boli dočasne uväznení zlí duchovia (porov. Lk 8, 31; 2 Pt 2, 4; Júd 6).

Zjv 9,3 - Kobylky sú symbolom činnosti zlých duchov. Porov. Joel 1.

Zjv 9,10 - Päť mesiacov je približná dĺžka života kobyliek.

Zjv 9,11 - "Abaddon" znamená doslova "záhuba". V Starom zákone je synonymom podsvetia (šeol). Porov. Jób 26, 6; 28, 22; Ž 88, 12. Grécky názov Apollyon znamená ničiteľ.

Zjv 9,14 - V tom čase sa Rímska ríša rozprestierala na východe až po rieku Eufrat. Za ňou sídlili Parti so svojím obávaným jazdeckým vojskom.

Zjv 9,16-19 - Čísla a alegorický opis označujú hroznú silu zlých duchov.

Zjv 9,20 - Nepriatelia Boha zotrvávajú vo svojom odpore. Porov. Iz 17, 8; Dan 5, 4. 23; Ž 135, 15–17.
