Gn 18, 1-33

1 (CPDV) Then the Lord appeared to him, in the steep valley of Mamre, when he was sitting at the door of his tent, in the very heat of the day.

2 (CPDV) And when he had lifted up his eyes, there appeared to him three men, standing near him. When he had seen them, he ran to meet them from the door of his tent, and he reverenced them on the ground.
2 (ROH) A keď pozdvihol svoje oči, videl a hľa, traja mužovia stáli naproti nemu. A keď ich uvidel, bežal im v ústrety odo dverí stánu a poklonil sa k zemi.

3 (CPDV) And he said: “If I, O lord, have found grace in your eyes, do not pass by your servant.
3 (ROH) A povedal: Môj Pane, ak som našiel milosť v tvojich očiach, prosím, neobídi svojho služobníka!

4 (CPDV) But I will bring a little water, and you may wash your feet and rest under the tree.
4 (ROH) Dovoľ, prosím, nech sa donesie trochu vody, a umyte svoje nohy a oprite sa pod stromom.

5 (CPDV) And I will set out a meal of bread, so that you may strengthen your heart; after this you will pass on. It is for this reason that you have turned aside to your servant.” And they said, “Do as you have spoken.”
5 (ROH) A donesiem kúsok chleba, a posilnite svoje srdce; potom pojdete ďalej, lebo veď práve preto aj idete popri svojom služobníkovi. A riekli: Učiň tak, ako si povedal.

6 (CPDV) Abraham hurried into the tent to Sarah, and he said to her, “Quickly, mix together three measures of the finest wheat flour and make loaves baked under the ashes.”
6 (ROH) Vtedy sa ponáhľal Abrahám do stánu k Sáre a povedal: Vezmi rýchle tri saty jemnej bielej múky, zamies a sprav koláče.

7 (CPDV) In truth, he himself ran to the herd, and he took a calf from there, very tender and very good, and he gave it to a servant, who hurried and boiled it.
7 (ROH) Potom bežal Abrahám k stádu rožného dobytka a vzal útle teľa dobré a dal sluhovi, ktorý sa ponáhľal, aby ho pripravil.

8 (CPDV) Likewise, he took butter and milk, and the calf which he had boiled, and he placed it before them. Yet truly, he himself stood near them under the tree.
8 (ROH) A tak vzal masla, mlieka a teľa, ktoré pripravil, a položil to pred nich a sám stál pri nich pod stromom, a jedli.

9 (CPDV) And when they had eaten, they said to him, “Where is Sarah your wife?” He answered, “Behold, she is in the tent.”
9 (ROH) A riekli mu: Kde je Sára, tvoja žena? A on povedal: Hľa, v stáne je.

10 (CPDV) And he said to him, “When returning, I will come to you at this time, with life as a companion, and your wife Sarah will have a son.” Hearing this, Sarah laughed behind the door of the tent.

11 (CPDV) Now they were both old, and in an advanced state of life, and it had ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women.
11 (ROH) A Abrahám a Sára boli starí, pošlí vekom. Sáre už bolo prestalo byť, ako bývalo ženám.

12 (CPDV) And she laughed secretly, saying, 10 “After I have grown old, and my lord is elderly, shall I give myself to the work of delight?”
12 (ROH) Preto sa smiala Sára sama v sebe a riekla: Či keď som sa už zostarela, bude mi rozkoš? A môj pán je tiež už starý.

13 (CPDV) Then the Lord said to Abraham: “Why did Sarah laugh, saying: ‘How can I, an old woman, actually give birth?’
13 (ROH) A Hospodin riekol Abrahámovi: Prečo sa smiala Sára a riekla: Či ozaj porodím ja, ktorá som už stará?

14 (CPDV) Is anything difficult for God? According to the announcement, he will return to you at this same time, with life as a companion, and Sarah will have a son.”

15 (CPDV) Sarah denied it, saying, “I did not laugh.” For she was terribly afraid. But the Lord said, “It is not so; for you did laugh.”

16 (CPDV) Therefore, when the men had risen up from there, they directed their eyes against Sodom. And Abraham traveled with them, leading them.
16 (ROH) Potom vstali mužovia odtiaľ a obrátili svoju tvár k Sodome. A Abrahám išiel s nimi, aby ich odprevadil.

17 (CPDV) And the Lord said: “How could I hide what I am about to do from Abraham,
17 (ROH) A Hospodin riekol: Či budem tajiť pred Abrahámom, čo učiním,

18 (CPDV) since he will become a great and very robust nation, and in him all the nations of the earth will be blessed?
18 (ROH) keďže Abrahám istotne bude veľkým národom a mocným, a budú v ňom požehnané všetky národy zeme?!

19 (CPDV) For I know that he will instruct his sons, and his household after him, to keep to the way of the Lord, and to act with judgment and justice, so that, for the sake of Abraham, the Lord may bring about all the things that he has spoken to him.”
19 (ROH) Lebo ho znám, pretože prikáže svojim synom a svojmu domu po sebe, a tak budú ostríhať cestu Hospodinovu činiac spravedlivosť a súd, aby Hospodin uviedol na Abraháma to, čo hovoril o ňom.

20 (CPDV) And so the Lord said, “The outcry from Sodom and Gomorrah has been multiplied, and their sin has become exceedingly grievous.
20 (ROH) Vtedy riekol Hospodin: Krik Sodomy a Gomory je veľký, a ich hriech je veľmi ťažký.

21 (CPDV) I will descend and see whether they have fulfilled the work of the outcry that has reached me, or whether it is not so, in order that I may know.”
21 (ROH) Preto nech sostúpim ta a uvidím, či vykonali všetko tak podľa jej kriku, ktorý prišiel ku mne, a jestli nie, tedy zviem.

22 (CPDV) And they turned themselves from there, and they went toward Sodom. Yet in truth, Abraham still stood in the sight of the Lord.
22 (ROH) A mužovia obrátiac sa odtiaľ išli do Sodomy. Ale Abrahám stál ešte vždy pred Hospodinom.

23 (CPDV) And as they drew near, he said: “Will you destroy the just with the impious?
23 (ROH) A Abrahám pristúpil a povedal: Či azda zahladíš spravedlivého s bezbožným?

24 (CPDV) If there were fifty of the just in the city, will they perish with the rest? And will you not spare that place for the sake of fifty of the just, if they were in it?

25 (CPDV) Far be it from you to do this thing, and to kill the just with the impious, and for the just to be treated like the impious. No, this is not like you. You judge all the earth; you would never make such a judgment.”
25 (ROH) Kdeže by si učinil takú vec, aby si usmrtil spravedlivého s bezbožným, a aby bol spravedlivý zrovna taký jako bezbožný! Nech je to preč od teba! Či azda sudca celej zeme neučiní súdu?

26 (CPDV) And the Lord said to him, “If I find in Sodom fifty of the just in the midst of the city, I will release the entire place because of them.”
26 (ROH) A Hospodin riekol: Ak najdem v Sodome päťdesiat spravedlivých, v tom meste, odpustím pre nich celému tomu miestu.

27 (CPDV) And Abraham responded by saying: “Since now I have begun, I will speak to my Lord, though I am dust and ashes.
27 (ROH) A Abrahám odpovedal a riekol: Hľa, prosím, podujal som sa hovoriť svojmu Pánovi, kým som ja prach a popol.

28 (CPDV) What if there were five less than fifty of the just? Would you, despite the forty-five, eliminate the entire city?” And he said, “I will not eliminate it, if I find forty-five there.”
28 (ROH) Snáď chýbajú do tých päťdesiatich spravedlivých piati; či zkazíš pre tých piatich celé to mesto? A riekol: Nezkazím, jestli tam najdem štyridsaťpäť.

29 (CPDV) And again he said to him, “But if forty were found there, what would you do?” He said, “I will not strike, for the sake of the forty.”
29 (ROH) A ešte mu hovoril Abrahám a riekol: Snáď sa tam najdú štyridsiati. - A riekol: Neučiním pre tých štyridsiatich.

30 (CPDV) “I ask you,” he said, “not to be angry, Lord, if I speak. What if thirty were found there?” He responded, “I will not act, if I find thirty there.”
- A riekol: Neučiním, jestli tam najdem tridsiatich.

31 (CPDV) “Since now I have begun,” he said, “I will speak to my Lord. What if twenty were found there?” He said, “I will not put to death, for the sake of the twenty.”
31 (ROH) A zase povedal: Hľa, prosím, podujal som sa hovoriť svojmu Pánovi. Snáď sa tam najdú dvadsiati. - A riekol: Nezkazím pre tých dvadsiatich.

32 (CPDV) “I beg you,” he said, “not to be angry, Lord, if I speak yet once more. What if ten were found there?” And he said, “I will not destroy it for the sake of the ten.”

33 (CPDV) And the Lord departed, after he had ceased speaking to Abraham, who then returned to his place.
33 (ROH) A Hospodin odišiel hneď, ako dohovoril s Abrahámom. A Abrahám sa navrátil na svoje miesto.

Gn 18, 1-33

Verš 2
And when he had lifted up his eyes, there appeared to him three men, standing near him. When he had seen them, he ran to meet them from the door of his tent, and he reverenced them on the ground.
Heb 13:2 - And do not be willing to forget hospitality. For by it, certain persons, without realizing it, have received Angels as guests.

Verš 10
And he said to him, “When returning, I will come to you at this time, with life as a companion, and your wife Sarah will have a son.” Hearing this, Sarah laughed behind the door of the tent.
Gn 17:19 - And God said to Abraham: “Your wife Sarah shall give birth to a son, and you shall call his name Isaac, and I will establish my covenant with him as a perpetual covenant, and with his offspring after him.
Gn 17:21 - Yet in truth, I will establish my covenant with Isaac, to whom Sarah will give birth for you at this time next year.”
Gn 21:2 - And she conceived and gave birth to a son in her old age, at the time that God had foretold to her.

Verš 11
Now they were both old, and in an advanced state of life, and it had ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women.
Gn 17:17 - Abraham fell on his face, and he laughed, saying in his heart: “Do you think a son can be born to a one hundred year old man? And will Sarah give birth at the age of ninety?”
Rim 4:19 - And he was not weakened in faith, nor did he consider his own body to be dead (though he was then almost one hundred years old), nor the womb of Sarah to be dead.
Heb 11:11 - By faith also, Sarah herself, being barren, received the ability to conceive offspring, even though she was past that age in life. For she believed him to be faithful, who had promised.

Verš 12
And she laughed secretly, saying, 10 “After I have grown old, and my lord is elderly, shall I give myself to the work of delight?”
Sdc 19:26 - But the woman, as darkness was receding, came to the door of the house, where her lord was staying, and there she fell down.
1Pt 3:6 - For so Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord. You are her daughters, well-behaved and unafraid of any disturbance.

Verš 14
Is anything difficult for God? According to the announcement, he will return to you at this same time, with life as a companion, and Sarah will have a son.”
Mt 19:26 - But Jesus, gazing at them, said to them: “With men, this is impossible. But with God, all things are possible.”
Lk 1:37 - For no word will be impossible with God.”

Verš 17
And the Lord said: “How could I hide what I am about to do from Abraham,
Am 3:7 - For the Lord God does not fulfill his word, unless he has revealed his secret to his servants the prophets.

Verš 18
since he will become a great and very robust nation, and in him all the nations of the earth will be blessed?
Gn 12:3 - I will bless those who bless you, and curse those who curse you, and in you all the families of the earth will be blessed.”
Gn 22:18 - And in your offspring, all the nations of the earth will be blessed, because you obeyed my voice.”
Gn 26:4 - And I will multiply your offspring like the stars of heaven. And I will give to your posterity all these regions. And in your offspring all the nations of the earth will be blessed,
Sk 3:25 - You are sons of the prophets and of the testament which God has appointed for our fathers, saying to Abraham: ‘And by your offspring all the families of the earth shall be blessed.’
Gal 3:8 - Thus Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, foretold to Abraham: “All nations shall be blessed in you.”

Verš 25
Far be it from you to do this thing, and to kill the just with the impious, and for the just to be treated like the impious. No, this is not like you. You judge all the earth; you would never make such a judgment.”
Rim 3:6 - (I am speaking in human terms.) Let it not be so! Otherwise, how would God judge this world?

Gn 18,1-5 - Boh zjavuje sa Abrahámovi v podobe Anjela a sprevádzajú ho ešte dvaja anjeli. Zjavenie sa odohráva na poludnie. Abrahám považoval hostí za ľudí, neskoršie v jednom poznáva Pána. Abrahám oslovuje z príchodiacich len jedného, toho najvznešenejšieho a najhlavnejšieho. Pane, hebr. adoni, je úctivé oslovenie. Seba Abrahám volá sluhom. Takto to vyžadovala orientálna zdvorilosť.
