Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him.

And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced.

And after this Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: and Pilate gave him leave. He came therefore, and took the body of Jesus.

The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God.
Lv 24:16 - And he that blasphemeth the name of the LORD, he shall surely be put to death, and all the congregation shall certainly stone him: as well the stranger, as he that is born in the land, when he blasphemeth the name of the LORD, shall be put to death.
Jn 5:18 - Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.

But they cried out, Away with him, away with him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priest answered, We have no king but Caesar.

Then delivered he him therefore unto them to be crucified. And they took Jesus, and led him away.

And Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross. And the writing was, JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS.
Mt 27:37 - And set up over his head his accusation written, THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
Mk 15:26 - And the superscription of his accusation was written over, THE KING OF THE JEWS.

Verš 23
Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments, and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also his coat: now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout.
Mt 27:35 - And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.
Mk 15:24 - And when they had crucified him, they parted his garments, casting lots upon them, what every man should take.
Lk 23:34 - Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.
Verš 24
They said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, They parted my raiment among them, and for my vesture they did cast lots. These things therefore the soldiers did.

Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene.

After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.

Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth.
Mt 27:48 - And straightway one of them ran, and took a spunge, and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink.
Verš 30
When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

Jn 19,11 - Každý, kto je poverený zodpovedným úradom, musí Bohu účtovať, či verne a svedomite vykonával svoje povinnosti a či nezneužil svoje práva. - Židia, najmä ich predstavitelia, majú väčšiu vinu než Pilát, lebo mohli a mali vedieť, kto je Ježiš. - Pilát už predtým cítil akýsi vnútorný nepokoj alebo obavu, že napriek presvedčeniu o jeho nevine dal Krista stýrať ako zločinca. Teraz však, keď počul, že sa robí Božím Synom, bál sa ešte viac. Možno ho znepokojovala myšlienka, že by to azda predsa mohol byť nejaký boh v ľudskej podobe, alebo nejaký poloboh, takže keby ho odsúdil, zvolal by na seba trest a božskú pomstu.
Jn 19,16-30 - Mt 27, 31-50; Mk 15, 20-37; Lk 23, 26-46.Ján neopisuje krížovú cestu. Uvádza iba dva základné a isté body: vládnu budovu, odkiaľ sa sprievod pohol, a Golgotu, kde Ježiša ukrižovali; no pritom zaznamenáva veci celkom nové, prípadne podrobnejšie opisuje už známe.
Jn 19,24 - Ž 22, 19.
Jn 19,25 - Nevie sa, či ide o tri, alebo štyri ženy. Ak sa za sestru "jeho matky" berie Mária Kleopasova, tak sú tri.
Jn 19,28 - Ž 22, 16.
Jn 19,29 - Porov. Ž 69, 22. - Ocot (vlastne kyslé víno) zmiešaný s myrhou dávali piť odsúdeným na trest smrti, aby sa omámili a aby sa im tak zmiernili bolesti.
Jn 19,31-37 - "Prípravný deň" rozumej prípravný deň na sobotu, ale súčasne aj na Veľkú noc. Polámanie kostí malo urýchliť smrť.
Jn 19,34 - Vojak prebodol srdce naozaj odborne. Úder šiel z pravej strany cez pľúca do srdca. Šlo rozhodne o smrteľnú ranu. Svätopisec tvrdí, že z prebodnutého boku vyšla krv a voda. Dôkladnejšie lekárske výskumy dokázali nielen možnosť, ale priamo potvrdili pravdivosť tohto úkazu: u ľudí, ktorí sa dlho trápia v prudkých smrteľných mukách, sa v osrdcovníku tvorí sérum naoko podobné vode.
Jn 19,36 - Ex 12, 46; Nm 9, 12; Ž 34, 21.V Ex 12, 46 a v Nm 9, 12 je reč o veľkonočnom baránkovi, ktorý je predobrazom Krista.
Jn 19,37 - Zach 12, 10.Krv potvrdzuje skutočnosť obety baránka, obetovaného za život sveta (6, 51), a voda, symbol Ducha, jej duchovnú plodnosť. Mnohí otcovia, nie bez dôvodu, videli vo vode symbol krstu a v krvi symbol Eucharistie, a v obidvoch týchto sviatostiach znamenie Cirkvi, novú Evu zrodenú z nového Adama (porov. Ef 5, 23-32).
Jn 19,38-42 - Mt 27, 57-61; Mk 15, 42-47; Lk 23, 50-56.
Jn 19,42 - Museli sa ponáhľať, aby ešte pred začiatkom veľkonočných sviatkov (sviatočný deň sa začínal už večer) boli s pochovávaním hotoví.
