Kniha Ester

1 (CPDV) Truly, king Artaxerxes made all the land, and all the islands of the sea, tributaries.
1 (KAT) Rozkázal jej (bezpochyby to bol Mardochej), aby predstúpila pred kráľa a prosila za ľud a za svoju vlasť.

2 (CPDV) And his strength and his authority, and the dignity and supremacy with which he exalted Mordecai, have been written in the books of the Medes and the Persians,
2 (KAT) (Povedal:) „Spomeň si na dni, keď si bola malá, ako som ťa svojou rukou kŕmil; lebo Aman, druhý muž po kráľovi, podal návrh proti nám, aby nás vyhubil.

3 (CPDV) and how Mordecai of Jewish birth, was second after king Artaxerxes, and great among the Jews, and acceptable to the people of his brethren, seeking the good of his people, and speaking about things which pertained to peace for their descendents.
3 (KAT) Preto vzývaj Pána a prihovor sa za nás u kráľa a zachráň nás od smrti!“

4 (CPDV) And Mordecai said, “By God have these things been done.
4 (KAT) Na tretí deň odložila všedný odev a obliekla si nádherné (rúcho).
4 ----

5 (CPDV) I remember a dream that I saw, which signified these same things, and nothing of this whatsoever has failed to occur.
5 (KAT) A keď sa už skvela vo svojom kráľovskom rúchu a vzývala Boha, ktorý všetko spravuje a chráni, vzala si dve služobnice.
5 ----

6 (CPDV) The little fountain which grew into a river, and had turned into light and into the sun, and overflowed into many waters, is Esther, whom the king received as wife and whom he preferred to be queen.
6 (KAT) O jednu sa opierala akoby z rozmaru,

7 (CPDV) But the two dragons are I and Haman.
7 (KAT) kým druhá služobnica išla za svojou paňou a dvíhala jej rúcho, ktoré jej siahalo až po zem.
7 ----

8 (CPDV) The peoples who gathered together are those who had attempted to erase the name of the Jews.
8 (KAT) Po tvári sa jej rozlievala ružová farba a svojimi milými, žiariacimi očami zakrývala smutného ducha, ktorý bol skľúčený od veľkého strachu.
8 ----

9 (CPDV) And my people is Israel, who cried out to the Lord, and the Lord brought salvation to his people, and he freed us from all evils, and he created great signs and portents among the nations.
9 (KAT) Podľa poriadku prešla všetkými dverami a zastala pred kráľom, ktorý práve sedel na tróne svojej kráľovskej (hodnosti), odetý kráľovským rúchom a skvel sa zlatom a drahokamami. Ale pohľad mal hrozivý.

10 (CPDV) And he commanded there to be two lots, one for the people of God and the other for all the nations.
10 (KAT) Keď zdvihol tvár, blčiacimi očami prezrádzal rozhnevanú myseľ. Kráľovná sa zrútila, jej farba sa zmenila na bledosť a svoju omdletú hlavu oprela o služobnicu.

11 (CPDV) And both lots arrived at the day appointed before God, even from that past time, for all peoples.
11 (KAT) Tu zmenil Boh kráľovho ducha na prívetivosť, takže rýchlo a s obavou zoskočil z trónu, vzal ju do náručia, až prišla zasa k sebe a upokojoval ju láskavými slovami:

12 (CPDV) And the Lord remembered his people and had mercy on his inheritance.
12 (KAT) „Čo sa ti stalo, Ester? Ja som tvoj brat, neboj sa!
12 ----

13 (CPDV) And these days shall be observed in the month of Adar, on the fourteenth and fifteenth day of the same month, with all zealousness and joy, by the people gathered together into one union, throughout all the generations hereafter of the people of Israel.”
13 (KAT) Neumrieš, lebo tento zákon neustanovili pre teba, ale pre všetkých ostatných.

14 (CPDV) In the fourth year of the reigns of Ptolemy and Cleopatra, Dositheus, who was himself a priest and born of the Levites, and Ptolemy his son, brought this epistle of Purim, which they said was a translation by Lysimachus the son of Ptolemy in Jerusalem.
14 (KAT) Pristúp teda bližšie a dotkni sa berly!“

15 (KAT) A keďže ani tak neprehovorila, vzal zlatú berlu a vložil jej ju na šiju. Potom ju pobozkal a spýtal sa jej: „Prečo mi neodpovedáš?“

16 (KAT) Vtedy mu povedala: „Videla som ťa, môj pane, ako Božieho anjela a zmiatlo sa mi srdce od strachu pred tvojou slávou.
16 ----

17 ----
17 (KAT) Lebo si hoden veľkého obdivu, môj pane, a tvoja tvár je plná pôvabu.“
17 ----

18 ----
18 (KAT) A kým hovorila, opäť sa zrútila a zostala skoro bez života.
18 ----

19 ----
19 (KAT) Kráľa to rozrušovalo. No všetci jeho služobníci ju povzbudzovali.
