1 Ž 81, 1 A Psalm of Asaph. God has stood in the synagogue of gods, but, in their midst, he decides between gods. 2 Ž 81, 2 How long will you judge unjustly and favor the faces of sinners? 3 Ž 81, 3 Judge for the indigent and the orphan. Do justice to the humble and the poor. 4 Ž 81, 4 Rescue the poor, and free the needy from the hand of the sinner. 5 Ž 81, 5 They did not know and did not understand. They wander in darkness. All the foundations of the earth will be moved. 6 Ž 81, 6 I said: You are gods, and all of you are sons of the Most High. 7 Ž 81, 7 But you will die like men, and you will fall just like one of the princes. 8 Ž 81, 8 Rise up, O God. Judge the earth. For you will inherit it with all the nations.

Z 81 - Žalm je výzvou k náležitej oslave sviatku. Do úvahy prichádzajú len dva sviatky, a to Veľká noc a slávnosť Stánkov. Ide však skôr o Veľkú noc - "pesah" (naznačujú to vv. 6-7).
Z 81,4 - Tento nástroj, hebr. "šôfár", bol jednoduchý baraní alebo kravský roh. Trúbili naň vždy začiatkom mesiaca, v čase "nového mesiaca" (Nm 10,10), ktorý slávili zvláštnymi obetami (Nm 28,11-15). "Splnom mesiaca" sa začínali sviatky Veľkej noci a Stánkov.
Z 81,17 - Metafora na vyjadrenie Božích prisľúbení (Dt 32,13.14; Joel 3,18; Am 9,13).
