Abd 1, 1-21

1 (KJV) The vision of Obadiah. Thus saith the Lord GOD concerning Edom; We have heard a rumour from the LORD, and an ambassador is sent among the heathen, Arise ye, and let us rise up against her in battle.
1 (KAT) Videnie Abdiáša. Toto hovorí Pán, Jahve, o Edome: Zvesť som počul od Pána a posol bol poslaný k národom: „Vstaňte, pozdvihnime sa proti nemu do boja!“

2 (KJV) Behold, I have made thee small among the heathen: thou art greatly despised.
2 (KAT) „Hľa, umenším ťa medzi národmi, budeš veľmi opovrhnutý!

3 (KJV) The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?
3 (KAT) Nadutosť tvojho srdca ťa oklame, obyvateľ skalných trhlín! Sídli vysoko a hovorí si v srdci: »Ktože ma zrúti na zem?«

4 (KJV) Though thou exalt thyself as the eagle, and though thou set thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the LORD.
4 (KAT) Čo sa vyvýšiš ako orol a čo si aj medzi hviezdy hniezdo postavíš, zrútim ťa odtiaľ,“ hovorí Pán.

5 (KJV) If thieves came to thee, if robbers by night, (how art thou cut off!) would they not have stolen till they had enough? if the grapegatherers came to thee, would they not leave some grapes?
5 (KAT) Ak prídu k tebe zlodeji, ak noční lupiči - (a spustošia ťa!) - či si neukradnú, len koľko im stačí? Ak prídu k tebe oberači, či nenechajú paberky?

6 (KJV) How are the things of Esau searched out! how are his hidden things sought up!
6 (KAT) Ako poprehľadávajú Ezaua, poprekutávajú jeho skrýše!

7 (KJV) All the men of thy confederacy have brought thee even to the border: the men that were at peace with thee have deceived thee, and prevailed against thee; they that eat thy bread have laid a wound under thee: there is none understanding in him.
7 (KAT) Až k hraniciam ťa poženú všetci mužovia tvojej zmluvy, oklamú, premôžu ťa tvoji chleboví priatelia, osídlo postavia pod teba, ty nechápavý!

8 (KJV) Shall I not in that day, saith the LORD, even destroy the wise men out of Edom, and understanding out of the mount of Esau?
8 (KAT) „Či v ten deň - hovorí Pán - nevyničím mudrcov z Edomu a rozumnosť z Ezauovho vrchu?

9 (KJV) And thy mighty men, O Teman, shall be dismayed, to the end that every one of the mount of Esau may be cut off by slaughter.
9 (KAT) Vtedy ochabnú tvoji hrdinovia, Teman, aby z Ezauovho vrchu každý vraždou vyhynul.

10 (KJV) For thy violence against thy brother Jacob shame shall cover thee, and thou shalt be cut off for ever.
10 (KAT) Pre násilie na tvojom bratovi Jakubovi pokryje ťa hanba a zahynieš naveky.

11 (KJV) In the day that thou stoodest on the other side, in the day that the strangers carried away captive his forces, and foreigners entered into his gates, and cast lots upon Jerusalem, even thou wast as one of them.
11 (KAT) V deň, keď si stál oproti, v deň, keď barbari zajali jeho vojsko a cudzinci vnikli do jeho brán a o Jeruzalem hádzali žreb, i ty si bol ako jeden z nich.“

12 (KJV) But thou shouldest not have looked on the day of thy brother in the day that he became a stranger; neither shouldest thou have rejoiced over the children of Judah in the day of their destruction; neither shouldest thou have spoken proudly in the day of distress.
12 (KAT) Ale nehľaď na deň svojho brata, na deň jeho nešťastia, neteš sa nad Júdovými synmi v deň ich skazy a neroztváraj si ústa v deň úzkosti.

13 (KJV) Thou shouldest not have entered into the gate of my people in the day of their calamity; yea, thou shouldest not have looked on their affliction in the day of their calamity, nor have laid hands on their substance in the day of their calamity;
13 (KAT) Nevnikaj do brány môjho ľudu v deň jeho pohromy, nepas si aj ty oči na jeho nešťastí v deň jeho pohromy a nehrab sa za jeho majetkom v deň jeho pohromy!

14 (KJV) Neither shouldest thou have stood in the crossway, to cut off those of his that did escape; neither shouldest thou have delivered up those of his that did remain in the day of distress.
14 (KAT) Ani nestoj pri trhlinách, aby si hubil jeho ubehlíkov, a nechytaj jeho utečencov v deň úzkosti!

15 (KJV) For the day of the LORD is near upon all the heathen: as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee: thy reward shall return upon thine own head.
15 (KAT) Lebo je blízko Pánov deň proti všetkým národom. Ako si nakladal ty, tak naloží s tebou, tvoje činy ti zvráti na hlavu.

16 (KJV) For as ye have drunk upon my holy mountain, so shall all the heathen drink continually, yea, they shall drink, and they shall swallow down, and they shall be as though they had not been.
16 (KAT) Lebo ako ste pili na mojom svätom vrchu, tak budú piť ustavične všetky národy, budú piť a srkať a budú, akoby neboli.

17 (KJV) But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.
17 (KAT) Na vrchu Sion bude však záchrana a bude svätý; Jakubov dom sa zmocní svojho majetku.

18 (KJV) And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble, and they shall kindle in them, and devour them; and there shall not be any remaining of the house of Esau; for the LORD hath spoken it.
18 (KAT) Jakubov dom bude ohňom a Jozefov dom plameňom, dom Ezauov však plevou, ktorú zapália a strávia, a z Ezauovho domu sa nezachráni nik, lebo Pán (tak) hovorí.

19 (KJV) And they of the south shall possess the mount of Esau; and they of the plain the Philistines: and they shall possess the fields of Ephraim, and the fields of Samaria: and Benjamin shall possess Gilead.
19 (KAT) Zmocnia sa juhu, Ezauovho vrchu a roviny Filištíncov. Zmocnia sa Efraimových polí a polí Samárie a Benjamín Galaádu.

20 (KJV) And the captivity of this host of the children of Israel shall possess that of the Canaanites, even unto Zarephath; and the captivity of Jerusalem, which is in Sepharad, shall possess the cities of the south.
20 (KAT) Zajatí tohto vojska, synov Izraela, sa zmocnia Kanaánu až po Sareptu a zajatí Jeruzalema, ktorí sú v Sardoch, zmocnia sa miest juhu.

21 (KJV) And saviours shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the LORD's.
21 (KAT) Záchranci vystúpia na vrch Sion, aby súdili Ezauov vrch a kráľovstvo bude patriť Pánovi.

The vision of Obadiah. Thus saith the Lord GOD concerning Edom; We have heard a rumour from the LORD, and an ambassador is sent among the heathen, Arise ye, and let us rise up against her in battle.

Jer 49:14 - I have heard a rumour from the LORD, and an ambassador is sent unto the heathen, saying, Gather ye together, and come against her, and rise up to the battle.

Verš 4

Though thou exalt thyself as the eagle, and though thou set thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the LORD.

Jer 49:16 - Thy terribleness hath deceived thee, and the pride of thine heart, O thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, that holdest the height of the hill: though thou shouldest make thy nest as high as the eagle, I will bring thee down from thence, saith the LORD.

Verš 5

If thieves came to thee, if robbers by night, (how art thou cut off!) would they not have stolen till they had enough? if the grapegatherers came to thee, would they not leave some grapes?

Jer 49:9 - If grapegatherers come to thee, would they not leave some gleaning grapes? if thieves by night, they will destroy till they have enough.

Verš 8

Shall I not in that day, saith the LORD, even destroy the wise men out of Edom, and understanding out of the mount of Esau?

Jer 29:14 - And I will be found of you, saith the LORD: and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith the LORD; and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive.

Jer 49:7 - Concerning Edom, thus saith the LORD of hosts; Is wisdom no more in Teman? is counsel perished from the prudent? is their wisdom vanished?

Verš 9

And thy mighty men, O Teman, shall be dismayed, to the end that every one of the mount of Esau may be cut off by slaughter.

Am 2:14 - Therefore the flight shall perish from the swift, and the strong shall not strengthen his force, neither shall the mighty deliver himself:

Am 2:16 - And he that is courageous among the mighty shall flee away naked in that day, saith the LORD.

Verš 10

For thy violence against thy brother Jacob shame shall cover thee, and thou shalt be cut off for ever.

Gn 27:41 - And Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing wherewith his father blessed him: and Esau said in his heart, The days of mourning for my father are at hand; then will I slay my brother Jacob.

Ez 35:5 - Because thou hast had a perpetual hatred, and hast shed the blood of the children of Israel by the force of the sword in the time of their calamity, in the time that their iniquity had an end:

Am 1:11 - Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Edom, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he did pursue his brother with the sword, and did cast off all pity, and his anger did tear perpetually, and he kept his wrath for ever:

Verš 11

In the day that thou stoodest on the other side, in the day that the strangers carried away captive his forces, and foreigners entered into his gates, and cast lots upon Jerusalem, even thou wast as one of them.

Ž 137:7 - Remember, O LORD, the children of Edom in the day of Jerusalem; who said, Rase it, rase it, even to the foundation thereof.

Verš 15

For the day of the LORD is near upon all the heathen: as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee: thy reward shall return upon thine own head.

Ez 35:15 - As thou didst rejoice at the inheritance of the house of Israel, because it was desolate, so will I do unto thee: thou shalt be desolate, O mount Seir, and all Idumea, even all of it: and they shall know that I am the LORD.

Abd 1,1 - O Abdiášovi pozri úvod. "Zvesť som počul" prekladáme podľa LXX a Jer 49,14. Dnešný hebr. a Vulg čítajú: "Zvesť sme počuli".

Abd 1,3 - Edomčania si mysleli, že ich na neprístupných skalách postavené mestá a hrady sú nedobytné. V skalnatých vrchoch Edomu je mnoho jaskýň, porov. Jer 49,16.

Abd 1,5 - Po zlodejoch ešte niečo ostane v dome, po oberačke ešte zvýši na strome kde-tu ovocie. Ale Edomčanov ich nepriatelia úplne vyplienia. Ezau, Jakubov brat, iným menom volal sa Edom. Od neho pochádzajú Edomčania.

Abd 1,7 - Edom nechce pochopiť, že ho spojenci (mužovia tvojej zmluvy), keď bude v núdzi, zradia a obrátia sa proti nemu.

Abd 1,9 - O Temane pozri pozn. k Jer 49,7.

Abd 1,10 - Pozri pozn. k vv. 5-6 a Jer 49,7. Porov. Mal 1,4.

Abd 1,11 - O Jeruzalem hádzali žreb rozumej: žrebovaním si delili korisť, nahrabanú v Jeruzaleme.

Abd 1,12-14 - Čo sa tu opisuje, stalo sa už, ale prorok to vidí ako prítomnosť.

Abd 1,15 - Edomčania si pripíjali na dobytie Pánovho vrchu, Siona. Až príde deň Pánovho trestu, budú musieť za to piť z kalicha utrpenia, porov. Jób 21,20; Ž 75,9; Iz 19,14; Jer 25,16.26-28; 49,12; Hab 2,16.

Abd 1,17-19 - Jakubov dom tu označuje Júdsko, Južnú ríšu; Jozefov dom Severnú ríšu. Júda najprv dostane naspäť svoje územia, potom sa zbaví nepriateľov a rozšíri svoje územie. Dostane pohanské územie, Edomsko a Filištínsko, a znovu sa pripojí k nemu Izraelské kráľovstvo, ktoré často volali Efraimom a ktorého hlavným mestom bola Samária. Zajordánskeho Galaádu sa zmocní Benjamínov kmeň, ktorý vždy patril k Júdskemu kráľovstvu. Božie kráľovstvo už nebude len v úzkych hraniciach Palestíny. Porov. Iz 54,2.

Abd 1,20 - Aj tí, čo sa z rozličných krajín vrátia zo za- jatia, pričinia sa o rozšírenie Božieho kráľovstva. - O Sarepte pozri pozn. k 1 Kr 17,9. - Sardy (Sparda) boli hlavným mestom Lýdie.

Abd 1,21 - Rozliční záchrancovia národa len pripravovali cestu veľkému záchrancovi Mesiášovi. Až v jeho časoch bude kráľovstvo naozaj patriť Pánovi.
