1 (KJV) And God said unto Jacob, Arise, go up to Bethel, and dwell there: and make there an altar unto God, that appeared unto thee when thou fleddest from the face of Esau thy brother.
1 (ROH) A Bôh riekol Jakobovi: Vstaň, iď hore do Bét-ela a bývaj tam a učiň tam oltár silnému Bohu, ktorý sa ti ukázal vtedy, keď si utekal pred Ezavom, svojím bratom.
2 (KJV) Then Jacob said unto his household, and to all that were with him, Put away the strange gods that are among you, and be clean, and change your garments:
2 (ROH) Vtedy povedal Jakob svojmu domu, a všetkým, ktorí boli s ním: Odstráňte cudzích bohov, ktorých máte medzi sebou, a očistite sa a zameňte svoje rúcha,
3 (KJV) And let us arise, and go up to Bethel; and I will make there an altar unto God, who answered me in the day of my distress, and was with me in the way which I went.
3 (ROH) a vstanúc poďme hore do Bét-ela, a učiním tam oltár silnému Bohu, ktorý ma vyslyšal v deň môjho súženia a bol so mnou na ceste, ktorou som išiel.
4 (KJV) And they gave unto Jacob all the strange gods which were in their hand, and all their earrings which were in their ears; and Jacob hid them under the oak which was by Shechem.
4 (ROH) A dali Jakobovi všetkých cudzích bohov, ktorí boli v ich ruke, i náušnice, ktoré mali na svojich ušiach, a Jakob ich zakopal a skryl pod dubom, ktorý bol pri Sicheme.
5 (KJV) And they journeyed: and the terror of God was upon the cities that were round about them, and they did not pursue after the sons of Jacob.
5 (ROH) A tak sa rušali. A strach Boží bol na mestách, ktoré boly vôkol nich, a nehonili synov Jakobových.
6 (KJV) So Jacob came to Luz, which is in the land of Canaan, that is, Bethel, he and all the people that were with him.
6 (ROH) A Jakob prišiel do Lúza, ktoré je v zemi Kanaána, to je Bét-el, on i všetok ľud, ktorý bol s ním.
7 (KJV) And he built there an altar, and called the place El-beth-el: because there God appeared unto him, when he fled from the face of his brother.
7 (ROH) A vystavili tam oltár a pomenovali to miesto: El-bet-el ; lebo tam tam sa mu boli zjavili Bohovia, keď utekal pred svojím bratom.
8 (KJV) But Deborah Rebekah's nurse died, and she was buried beneath Bethel under an oak: and the name of it was called Allon-bachuth.
8 (ROH) A toho času zomrela Debora, chôva Rebekina, a bola pochovaná pod Bét-elom, pod dubom, a nazval meno toho duba: Allon-bachút .
9 (KJV) And God appeared unto Jacob again, when he came out of Padan-aram, and blessed him.
9 (ROH) A Bôh sa zase ukázal Jakobovi, keď prišiel z Pádan-arama, a požehnal ho.
10 (KJV) And God said unto him, Thy name is Jacob: thy name shall not be called any more Jacob, but Israel shall be thy name: and he called his name Israel.
10 (ROH) A Bôh mu povedal: Tvoje meno je Jakob. Nebude sa viacej nazývať tvoje meno Jakob, ale Izrael bude tvoje meno. A tak nazval jeho meno Izrael.
11 (KJV) And God said unto him, I am God Almighty: be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall be of thee, and kings shall come out of thy loins;
11 (ROH) A ešte mu povedal Bôh: Ja som silný Bôh všemohúci. Ploď sa a množ sa! Národ, áno hromada národov bude z teba, i kráľovia pojdú z tvojich bedier.
12 (KJV) And the land which I gave Abraham and Isaac, to thee I will give it, and to thy seed after thee will I give the land.
12 (ROH) A zem, ktorú som bol dal Abrahámovi a Izákovi, dám tebe, i tvojmu semenu po tebe dám tú zem.
13 (KJV) And God went up from him in the place where he talked with him.
13 (ROH) Potom odišiel Bôh hore od neho na mieste, na ktorom hovoril s ním.
14 (KJV) And Jacob set up a pillar in the place where he talked with him, even a pillar of stone: and he poured a drink offering thereon, and he poured oil thereon.
14 (ROH) A Jakob postavil pamätný stĺp na mieste, na ktorom hovoril s ním, pamätný stĺp kamenný, vylial naň liatu obeť a polial ho na vrchu olejom.
15 (KJV) And Jacob called the name of the place where God spake with him, Bethel.
15 (ROH) A Jakob nazval meno miesta, na ktorom hovoril s ním Bôh: Bét-el.
16 (KJV) And they journeyed from Bethel; and there was but a little way to come to Ephrath: and Rachel travailed, and she had hard labour.
16 (ROH) A tak sa rušali z Bét-ela. A bolo ešte nejaký malý kúsok cesty do Efraty, keď porodila Rácheľ, ale mala ťažký pôrod.
17 (KJV) And it came to pass, when she was in hard labour, that the midwife said unto her, Fear not; thou shalt have this son also.
17 (ROH) A stalo sa, kým tedy s ťažkosťou rodila, že jej povedala baba: Neboj sa, máš i toto syna.
18 (KJV) And it came to pass, as her soul was in departing, (for she died) that she called his name Ben-oni: but his father called him Benjamin.
18 (ROH) A stalo sa v tom, keď vychádzala jej duša, lebo zomrela, že nazvala jeho meno Ben-oni ; ale jeho otec ho pomenoval Benjamin .
19 (KJV) And Rachel died, and was buried in the way to Ephrath, which is Bethlehem.
19 (ROH) A tak zomrela Rácheľ a bola pochovaná na ceste do Efraty, to jest Bet-lehem .
20 (KJV) And Jacob set a pillar upon her grave: that is the pillar of Rachel's grave unto this day.
20 (ROH) A Jakob postavil pomník na jej hrob. To je ten náhrobný pomník Ráchelin, ktorý tam stojí až do dnešného dňa.
21 (KJV) And Israel journeyed, and spread his tent beyond the tower of Edar.
21 (ROH) A Izrael sa rušal ďalej a roztiahol svoj stán z tamtej strany veže Éder .
22 (KJV) And it came to pass, when Israel dwelt in that land, that Reuben went and lay with Bilhah his father's concubine: and Israel heard it. Now the sons of Jacob were twelve:
22 (ROH) A stalo sa, keď býval Izrael v tej zem, že išiel Rúben a ležal s Bilhou, ženinou svojho otca, a Izrael sa to dopočul. A synov Jakobových bolo dvanásť.
23 (KJV) The sons of Leah; Reuben, Jacob's firstborn, and Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Zebulun:
23 (ROH) Synovia Leini: prvorodený Jakobov Rúben, Simeon, Lévi, Júda, Izachár a Zabulon.
24 (KJV) The sons of Rachel; Joseph, and Benjamin:
24 (ROH) Synovia Ráchelini: Jozef a Benjamin.
25 (KJV) And the sons of Bilhah, Rachel's handmaid; Dan, and Naphtali:
25 (ROH) A synovia Bilhy, dievky Ráchelinej: Dán a Naftali.
26 (KJV) And the sons of Zilpah, Leah's handmaid; Gad, and Asher: these are the sons of Jacob, which were born to him in Padan-aram.
26 (ROH) A synovia Zilfy, dievky Leinej: Gád a Aser. Toto sú synovia Jakobovi, ktorí sa mu narodili v Pádan-arame.
27 (KJV) And Jacob came unto Isaac his father unto Mamre, unto the city of Arbah, which is Hebron, where Abraham and Isaac sojourned.
27 (ROH) A Jakob prišiel k Izákovi, svojmu otcovi, do Mamre, do mesta Arbeho, ktoré je Hebron, kde pohostínil Abrahám a Izák.
28 (KJV) And the days of Isaac were an hundred and fourscore years.
28 (ROH) A Izákových dní bolo sto osemdesiat rokov.
29 (KJV) And Isaac gave up the ghost, and died, and was gathered unto his people, being old and full of days: and his sons Esau and Jacob buried him.
29 (ROH) A tak dokonal Izák a zomrel a bol pripojený k svojmu ľudu, starý a sýty dňov, a pochovali ho Ezav a Jakob, jeho synovia.

And God said unto Jacob, Arise, go up to Bethel, and dwell there: and make there an altar unto God, that appeared unto thee when thou fleddest from the face of Esau thy brother.
Gn 28:12 - And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it.
Gn 27:43 - Now therefore, my son, obey my voice; and arise, flee thou to Laban my brother to Haran;

And he built there an altar, and called the place El-beth-el: because there God appeared unto him, when he fled from the face of his brother.

And God appeared unto Jacob again, when he came out of Padan-aram, and blessed him.
Oz 12:4 - Yea, he had power over the angel, and prevailed: he wept, and made supplication unto him: he found him in Bethel, and there he spake with us;

And God said unto him, Thy name is Jacob: thy name shall not be called any more Jacob, but Israel shall be thy name: and he called his name Israel.
Gn 32:28 - And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.
2Kr 17:34 - Unto this day they do after the former manners: they fear not the LORD, neither do they after their statutes, or after their ordinances, or after the law and commandment which the LORD commanded the children of Jacob, whom he named Israel;

And God said unto him, I am God Almighty: be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall be of thee, and kings shall come out of thy loins;
Gn 17:1 - And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.
Gn 28:3 - And God Almighty bless thee, and make thee fruitful, and multiply thee, that thou mayest be a multitude of people;
Gn 48:3 - And Jacob said unto Joseph, God Almighty appeared unto me at Luz in the land of Canaan, and blessed me,
Gn 17:6 - And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.
Gn 17:16 - And I will bless her, and give thee a son also of her: yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of people shall be of her.

Verš 14
And Jacob set up a pillar in the place where he talked with him, even a pillar of stone: and he poured a drink offering thereon, and he poured oil thereon.
Gn 28:18 - And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put for his pillows, and set it up for a pillar, and poured oil upon the top of it.
Verš 19
And Rachel died, and was buried in the way to Ephrath, which is Bethlehem.
Gn 48:7 - And as for me, when I came from Padan, Rachel died by me in the land of Canaan in the way, when yet there was but a little way to come unto Ephrath: and I buried her there in the way of Ephrath; the same is Bethlehem.

And it came to pass, when Israel dwelt in that land, that Reuben went and lay with Bilhah his father's concubine: and Israel heard it. Now the sons of Jacob were twelve:
Gn 49:4 - Unstable as water, thou shalt not excel; because thou wentest up to thy father's bed; then defiledst thou it: he went up to my couch.

The sons of Leah; Reuben, Jacob's firstborn, and Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Zebulun:
Gn 46:8 - And these are the names of the children of Israel, which came into Egypt, Jacob and his sons: Reuben, Jacob's firstborn.

Verš 29
And Isaac gave up the ghost, and died, and was gathered unto his people, being old and full of days: and his sons Esau and Jacob buried him.
Gn 25:8 - Then Abraham gave up the ghost, and died in a good old age, an old man, and full of years; and was gathered to his people.
Gn 35,1 - Po tom, ako sa Jakubovi synovia tak nepriateľsky zachovali k obyvateľom Sichemu, Jakub nemohol sa tam dlhšie zdržovať. Aj Pán vyžaduje od Jakuba, aby sa pobral na miesto, kde mu prisľúbil pred odchodom do Mezopotámie svoju pomoc a ochranu (28,10 n.).
Gn 35,2-4 - Vtedy Jakub plní aj sľub, čo bol urobil už dávno predtým, že totiž bude slúžiť len pravému Bohu, Pánovi (28,21.22). Cudzí bohovia sú terafim, čo Ráchel vzala z otcovského domu, a tiež nejaké sošky, ktoré Jakubovi synovia odniesli ako korisť zo Sichemu. Krúžky neboli len ozdobou, ale aj amuletmi, čo mali zaručiť istotu pre toho, ktorý ich nosieval. Teda bola to povera, ktorá mala za podklad mnohobožstvo. Išli na posvätné miesto, mali sa teda očistiť: umyť a preobliecť. Vonkajšok však mal vyjadrovať vnútro.
Gn 35,16-20 - Efrata je staršie pomenovanie Betlehema. Efrata značí Krajinu plodov, Betlehem zasa Dom chleba.
Gn 35,21-22 - Veža stáda, hebr. migdal'éder, takto sa volala preto, že slúžila pastierom za prístrešie, keď v noci strážievali stáda. Stála medzi Betlehemom a Hebronom (Lk 2,9 n.). Jakuba už zarmútili dvaja synovia, Simeon a Lévi (34,30), a teraz ho zarmucuje Ruben hanebným skutkom, ktorý Jakub nezabudne a zbaví preň Rubena práva prvorodeného (49,4).
Gn 35,27-29 - Mambre pozri 13,18, Kirjat-Arbe (23,2). Pripojil sa k svojmu ľudu – pozri 25,8. Izáka pochovali v jaskyni Makpele (49,31, porov. s 25,9 a 23,19). – Jakub mal pri otcovej smrti 120 rokov (25,26) a Jakub mal 108 rokov, keď predali sedemnásťročného Jozefa (37,2), teda Izák žil ešte po predaní Jozefa dvanásť rokov, keďže všetkých rokov Izákových bolo 180. Svätopisec opisuje smrť Izákovu vopred a len potom udalosti, ktoré sa zbehli okolo Jozefa.
